The very idea behind BJJ is that you don't need those physical attributes to be effective. The focus of BJJ is on leverage overcoming brute strength. A BJJ practicioner can finish a fight from many positions...a wrestler must have a very dominate position and in a pure grappling match how do they finish the fight?

Wrestling gives the ability to determine where the fight takes place - that's why its so effective. A wrestler against a striker can get the fight to the ground, a wrestler against a submission grappler can keep the fight standing. Of course the most effective style is one that has something of all three, which is why all the champions other than Anderson Silva and arguably Jose Aldo combine a wrestling base with good standup and good grappling.

Yeah why I said arguably - he has wrestling but I wouldn't call it his base.

Another atheist mad I was destroying your buddies in the other thread? hilarious how you zero in on my one mistake yet completely ignore the mountains of ridiculous errors they made.

I meant frankie edgar not jon fitch, and at the time they fought he had a purple belt.

It's hard to compare the two arts directly because every modern mma "wrestler" also has extensive training in BJJ, even if only how to avoid getting caught in submissions.

A 100% pure wrestler with absolutely no knowledge of BJJ would have a much more difficult time.

Interesting compartmentalization. I zero'd in on your "one mistake." I was doing nothing more than responding back to your response to my post which was not directed at you at all. You chose to pick a topic in which you're completely ignorant about and start talking as if you're an expert or even have something that resembles knowledge. You do not. It was pathetic. And while it was fun slapping you down every time when you came up with the same old bland and ultimately ridiculous arguments (Yes, plural, because you certainly made more than just "one mistake" while spewing your mental diarrhea) and "points," your brand of stupid gets boring real fast.

And oh you meant Frankie Edgar? Must be another one of those times where you talk, **** up, and then offer that you obviously meant the right answer even though you failed to actually give the right answer.

    *Yawn*

In other words, you have nothing to say to counter my argument other than inane drivel. Sorry but it's pretty clear I possess more knowledge and experience than you in this subject. Only an uneducated moron would say Bjj> wrestling when it's quite clear it's the other way around. Only an idiot would say 'pure' Bjj owns 'pure' wrestling when there are no pure wrestlers or pure Bjj fighters in mma today. Multiple fights have proved fact over and over again.

    This was funny:

It was directed to me, you even quoted me. I suggest looking at post #25 more carefully

Feel free to point me to the argument I made either way in this thread. Go ahead, I'll wait.

In short, you just typed all that for nothing, attacking a position I didn't even state.

Just plain pathetic, but that seems to be your M.O.

Edit - Oh, so now you're talking about this thread and not Stem Cells, I gotcha. Seem to be going inbetween whenever it suits you. Yes, I responded by pointing out your nonsense. If someone gets basic facts wrong, probably not worth too much time to actually try and have an intelligent conversation/discussion with them.

I never said anything about an argument you made...Guess you can't read?

Hilarious, how you zero in on one error I made and then you proceed to make two stupid errors that involve basic reading comprehension!!!! :rofl

    .
Basic facts wrong like...the difference between my argument and your argument, or basic facts like the fact you responded to me, basic facts like...the topic I am arguing? those basic facts?
    :patsch

A wrestler who has a strong understanding, better yet close to a secondary mastery of bjj is going to have an advantage a lot of the time. Sometimes a bjj player/fighter is going to be very talented and can overcome the wrestling base. But we see this less and less these days.
