I decided to put a bet on Groves today to win. Was going to bet Groves by KO, then found it was better odds for Groves on points, so just bet on Groves to win at 11/4.
I thought initially DeGale, but thought this morn that George has better footwork and DeGale seems to plant his feet to throw fast combinations. I thought Groves would box on the outside and decided to bet on George.
I thought if the Anderson and Smith fights hadnt have happend respectively, I would have clearly picked for George. It wasnt a confident bet, but a gut feeling that Groves would box on the outside.

i still have more respect for james degale than guys like felix sturm, lucian bute ect , guys that arent afraid to put it on the line against someone thats as good as they are ..and at 10-0 it says alot for him to put himself (and groves) in such a huge fight...at some point after the ring walks and intros , and the giant crowd, i forgot these guys are just still very green and up and coming...and not defending a trinket IBF title against mismatches

"Why all the hate?" Because Degale isnt very likeable thats why?
Were only glad he lost a fight, not wishing him to be hanged.
    Get some perspective.

Having an opinion and enjoying the fact that an underdog confounded the bookies and 'experts' doesnt make us idiots.
What a cheeky dumb ******* you are.

I thought it was disgusting watching the behaviour of Mcdonnell and Degale, they showed no respect for Groves who stayed classy and a gentleman throughout. He didn't lower himself to the standard of Degale and for once a nice guy beat an arrogant guy.

Degale should be ashamed of himself, he even said he had organised the after party before the fight and showed no respect towards Groves.

To be that cocky and that abrasive, you can't lose. Look at Naz, once that air of invincibility had gone, BOOM he was finished as a fighter

I'm not saying that DeGale is done, but he needs to eat a big piece of humble pie now and accept that he is not as good as he thinks he is.

But he won't, he said something along the lines of "I shouldn't have lost that fight, he told me he was coming to fight, how am I supposed to win when he is on the back foot all the time?"

Well James, you should have been able to find a way shouldn't you. You didn't extend Groves a slice of respect after the bell, refused an interview after the fight and didn't say that Groves boxed well.

Forever, for the rest of your life you will hear "with x wins AND ONE DEFEAT"

You deserved a smack for you trash talking, and you got what you deserved

Now, pay up and give George your purse

The post would have been ok, a guy just giving an opinion......Minus the insults.
I just take exception to him him calling us 'a bunch of idiots' for no real reason.
    Im funny like that.

too right, what the **** was nelson going on about before the fight, he thought that groves was already beaten because degale looked more confident, he completely wrote groves off because of it. i get sick to death of people placing huge importance on stuff outside the ring like who looks most ripped in the weigh in, who wins the stare outs, who looks better in the walk in. the truth is in the ring when the bell goes.

Because Degale comes across as arrogant, cocky, loudmouthed and disrespectful. While at the same time is not in the least bit funny with it, has zero charm and doesn't seem to be the brightest either.

Degale has talent but I have a feeling his ego and arrogance will be his downfall. In the post fight press conference he didn't seem to be in the least bit humble in defeat and as such may not learn anything from it.

Both Groves and DeGale are great talents that can go places. The way this fight turned out was the best thing that could happen for British boxing in that the loser didnt suffer a bad KO and can come again, giving Britain two top prospects.
It was a close fight that I thought Groves deserved.
I thought the fight was amazing for two fighters so early in their careers

For Groves in 13 fights he has beaten P Samuels, C Adamu, undefeated Anderson and undefeated DeGale

For DeGale in 11 fights he has beaten 29-1 P Smith and C Dilks who some felt was unlucky against Adamu,

Thats 2 good up and comers to me
