Yes...he did. The knee didn't touch but he turned away to take a knee but put the glove down first. Same thing. They both did it to protect themselves. No shame in either one. Floyd had a messed up hand and Cotto was getting beaten with (likely) loaded gloves.

 

Any real boxing fan has to respect Cotto. A true warrior, a true professional. He fights the best, unlike some others. He is highly skilled and very entertaining. I applaud him for testing himself! win or lose he gets my respect. nothing to be embarrassed about.
