It Was An Awful, sloppy Contest And Hopkins Held Like A *****,almost Ruiz-esque. I Was Kinda Expecting A Draw . Then They Would Have Had 2 Do It Again. Thankfully Not..
What exactly do you expect from a 43 year old Bernard Hopkins fight?? Have you ever seen him box before? He's not exactly a wall-to-wall brawler. It was sloppy, but not awful. Hopkins is a very good defensive fighter who counterpunched effectively in the early stages, just couldn't hold his pace.
This was a fight fan fight, I thought Hopkins looked a cut above Calzaghe in terms of skill level even though he lost . A lot of subtle entertaining stuff going on making it a good fight.
I thought it a good fight - it's not like I was expecting a tear-up, given that both fighters are good at trapping/spoiling.
Mildly boring fight . Honestly i taped, and try to watch it again and couldn't pass beyond the 5th. Boooooooriiing!!
I enjoyed it immensly. We got 2 superb fighters (albeit one being old, but a very young old if that makes sense) going at it for the undisputed light heavy crown. The fight itself had lots of action, a knockdown, and great displays of elite boxing skills even though it had its share of clenches. Great fight indeed. But nothing like fights that we get like casamayor vs katsidsis. Those are far more entertaining.
