My take: Round 1: Taylor started brightly. Both men traded jabs, a lot of Taylor's shots missed the target, a lot of Froch's block. Froch landed a decent right hand but Taylor nailed him with a great right hand of his own and a couple of good left hooks. This content is protected Round 2: Froch settling in a bit more. A few straight left jabs slipping through the guard, neither man really landing much, Froch took a right hand but landed a short counter left as Taylor left himself open. Taylor missing some wild overhand rights. This content is protected Round 3: Froch started well as he pressed Taylor a bit more, a few shots getting throw but a lot blocked. Taylor nailed him with a big overhand right, and then again as Froch went to the ropes. Moved around to the other side but got nailed with a left right combination as he went down for the first time in his boxing career. This content is protected This content is protected A much quieter round, Froch settling down and getting back to his boxing skills instead of looking for big punches. Backed Taylor up early on, didn't land anything big though, Taylor landed a stiff jab and a good counter left uppercut to the chest, but Froch boxed well the whole round in general. This content is protected Round 5: Taylor this time using the jab more affectively, doubling up on it and countering Froch's jab with his own. Froch managed to land a glancing double left hook and took one aswell for his troubles. Letting his hands go more towards the end of the round, doubling up on hooks to the body, uppercuts to the head and a 1-2 but none seem to land. Taylor looking to more composed and his jab means he takes the round. This content is protected Round 6: Taylor jabbing well this round and giving Froch problems with it. He let his left hand go alot, and done well at the bell landing with a left hook. But Froch lands the best punch of the round, a really good short right hand and he pressures Taylor a bit more, doubling up with left and right hands. This content is protected Round 7: Froch a bit more effective with the jab, good 1-2 straight through the guard aswell and doubing up with short hooks upstairs trying to pressure Taylor. For me though the American still landing the jab more often, a decent left hook aswell. I'm gonna give it even. Hard to seperate. This content is protected Round 8: Froch boxing well, being the aggressor. A lot of punches landing on arms and gloves but he's landing more because Taylor just not letting his hands go enough. Jabs getting through, Froch slipping Taylor's own jab well, hit Taylor with a stiff left hook and decent glancing right hand. But Taylor rallies at the bell and takes the round, doubling up on the left hook upstairs and letting his hands go, landing a good right hand and a big left uppercut. This content is protected Round 9: A messier round, not really a clear round for either fighter, but Froch just not landing. He's trying to press the action but Taylor comfortable and blocking virtually everything. He nails Froch with stiff left jabs and just looks the more fluid and comfortable fighter. This content is protected . Round 10: Froch pressing Taylor a lot early on, getting him into the corner a couple of times. Taylor lets a few right hands slip through his guard, but he works his way but with the double jab and more eye catching punches, including a few left hooks. I'm gonna give Froch the round though. This content is protected Round 11: Best round of the fight. Both guys brawling, Froch landed a good right hand-left uppercut-right hand combination, a decent left hook towards the end of the round aswell but Taylor the more eyecatching, a left hook right hand combination with landed glancing, and then a flush right hand, aswell as a stiff straight leff as Froch moved forward. Taylor the more eye catching and threfore gets the round. But he looks tired, admittedly as does Froch. This content is protected Round 12: N/A - Knockout. But Froch would taken the round This content is protected courtesy of dominating plus the knockdown. This content is protected This content is protected - This content is protected
mine is something similar to yours , I had Taylor winning if he just survived a bit longer... but to be honest, it was a good stoppage , he was done.
For whats it worth!!!!! I had Taylor 1 point up going into the 12th round, a 10-8 in the last round would have been enough to give Froch the win on my card.
Taylor would have lost the last round 10-6 guys, he wasn't bending over when it was stopped to get some air, he was about to hit the deck for the 2nd time...
10-7. Which is why I've included 3 scorecards. I had it 106-103 Taylor going into round 12. If Taylor had stayed on his feet somehow the last 14 seconds, I would of had it 114-113 Taylor, being a 10-8 round. If Taylor had gone down again, and get up, then it would of been 10-7 and then I would of had it 113 a-piece.
Round 1-Taylor 10-9 Round 2-Taylor 10-9 Round 3-Taylor 10-8 Round 4-Taylor 10-9 Round 5-Taylor 10-9 Round 6-Froch 10-9 Round 7-Froch 10-9 Round 8-Froch 10-9 Round 9-Taylor 10-9 Round 10-Froch 10-9 Round 11-even 10-10(ROTY candidate) Round 12-TIMBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER. Total:106-103 Taylor going into the 12th.
I had it 106-102 Taylor, I agreed with the judges. Considering after five rounds I had it 50-44 Taylor, you can see how much Froch rallied and Taylor faded in the second half. Certainly not the first time that's happened for either fighter. Only seen the fight through once, on the night itself, but I had it : 1 Taylor 2 Taylor 3 Taylor 10-8 4 Taylor 5 Taylor 6 Froch 7 Taylor 8 Taylor 9 Froch 10 Froch 11 Froch 12 n/a! I originally heard it on BBC Radio Five Live, and they way they (typically over-dramatic, although the ending deserved that!) were describing it they had Froch only winning about 2 rounds. I disagree with that, I think they were being too pessimistic and giving Taylor all the benefit of the doubt. One of the late rounds, think it was the 10th, was Taylor doing almost nothing but get hit for 2.5 minutes then suddenly swinging away in the last 30 seconds. Classic old-school trick to try to steal the round, so I responded in classic old-school fashion by completely seeing through it and giving the round to Froch. Taylor deserves credit for being so obviously tired in the 11th and 12th but still trying to throw big shots, and landing with some of them. On the other hand, going to war like that was exactly what Froch had wanted all night long instead of boxing.
