Guys aren't going to be suddenly more skilled. Are ped's just used as a tool for a better camp and pushing harder?

Won’t effect skill but it does look like it can improve punch resistance,in any case they must do something or else why bother?

Stamina, punch resistance, weight cutting... depending on what they take it can help fighters build/rebuild muscle between camps, basically it makes the entire camp 10x easier.

PEDs can improve power, strength, speed, stamina etc. Your skill will be the same but your athletic abilities will definitely improve.

If it improves golf imagine a combat sport?

If Tiger Woods is an example think of a sport your objective is to hurt the other guy? Lol

Really this is modern days...anyone following sports knows just weight lifting improves performance and it's proven through science.

I was ahead of my time back in the 80's when ppl told me weight training doesn't help....

Oops how those experts were wrong...lol

They basically improve every single thing apart from ring IQ. Although to be clear, when I say "they" I mean a whole cornucopia of drugs that could be taken "off-season" and during the run up to a fight, providing of course they weren't caught.

Endurance, punch output, punch power, recovery between rounds, aggression, injury recovery (off-season), weight gain/loss - the list goes on and on.

They improve fighters and any athlete that have to be in shape to perform. They won't make a fighter more skilled but it greatly improves one's athletic ability which in fact will make a fighter perform at a much higher level.

Some that claim they don't make a fighter better.. If that's the case then training won't make a fighter better, see how obviously incorrect most are..

PEDs will make athletes perform at a level far above their nature ability

Even your skill will improve, indirectly, over time.

If you can train for longer, harder, and your recovery times become quicker, that is bound to have a knock on effect on your skill levels.

Just recently really it's transcended martial arts.

Which is crazy bc Bruce Lee preached about how weight lifting would give the advantage to the stronger fighter even if he was not more skilled in most cases...

I never read on Bruce Lee until the 90's but he's right.

Boxing is not traditional arts but it has the same principles...

My sensei was competing up until around 68 , he knew what was up....He was few who utilized weights and lifted since the 60's ...

He was also invited to the hall of fame and got his award the same night Ali was given his a few years ago for contributions to the martial arts...or/ and out of respect.

Frank Dux got his that night too, I say next next to Owen Beck , Fringe contender HE who's was under my senais , Sensai !

He's defiantly more a martial artist than boxer.

Once in awhile you hear boxers fighting outside the ring...

Owen Beck came into our groups dojo and fought the top guy / instructor standing 5' 10 180 and got dropped fast by the much smaller 45 year old........

Point being the instructor that dropped him..with a
KICK became his teacher and my sensei who lifted weights even at age 68 was tougher than he was......

I started a thread a few months ago asking if PEDs really work for boxers. My take is that, no, they don’t. I know that sounds very counterintuitive, but other than seeing fighters look more muscular I don’t think we’re observing fighters being better. My take is that PEDs allow fighters to be what they are at higher weights but not be better. For example, I believe that Holyfield, mayweather and Manny all used steroids, but the steroids didn’t make them great; steroids allowed them to be great at higher weight classes. FWIW...

I think they should allow every athlete in the world to used them! It will make it fair for everyone
