Okay, Roy has a shaky jaw, to say the least but Tarver and Johnson are legitimate LHWs who put twice the strength behind their punches than Joe does. Calzaghe landed how many punches to Lacy's head? Near 1000 or something and barely dropped him in the last round.

Joe has feather-fists and is a volume puncher. I'll give him the nod over Hopkins, who he out-worked the entire fight, but Hopkins looked like a crackhead at the end of the fight, which isn't much different from the beginning of the fight.

The last time I saw Joe hurt anybody was on a perfectly placed body shot against Kessler. I don't see Joe doing the same thing against Roy, who's well past his prime, but has shown the flashes of his old-self and regaining of his muscle memory over his last few wins.

I think we all agree that Joe will definitely outwork Roy but Roy has better handspeed, speed in general and is more active than Hopkins, who was able to drop Calzaghe. I don't think we've ever seen Joe hurt before and I think Roy will be the first to do it. The Hopkins KD showed me that Joe is more than vulnerable to someone who arm punches as carelessly and carefree as Joe does.

Calzaghe's the favorite but I just can't picture him actually outboxing Roy. Roy's achilles heel is his jaw. Calzaghe's weakness is slapping punches. I don't see this fight as lopsided as most people seem to.

I'd like to read the other side of the argument.

i wish people would stop hanging off this fight.

it's all about a talented fighter who never wanted to fight the best in the business trying to sell himself as a legend (even though he knows it's bull****) by beating the best fighter of his era way past his prime.

calzaghe is a used car salesman.

Maybe Roy will be fatigued, and Joe's avalanche of slaps will overwhelm him and the ref saves Roy in the corner.

if calzaghe goes on a slap run for 5-10 seconds while roy's on the ropes and somehow roy doesnt get a shot in and the ref pulls some bull**** and calls it way too early out of nowhere i could MAYBE see a disgraceful tko win. but its not likely to happen.

You guys make Slappy out to be Paulie Malignaggi in the power department. I think his slaps hurt more than we like to give him credit for because he does have a decent amount of KO's to his credit. Granted, there mostly TKO's but those slaps and arm punches add up after a twelve round fight....and yeah he didn't KO Lacy but Lacy has a cast iron jaw. Roy's on the other hand is maybe a notch above Amir Khan's if that. I'm pulling for Roy but I really don't know who to pick for this fight...did Roy regain some confidence and did the Tito fight really show us that he's back?....or did he just look good against a fat weltwerweight who hasn't fought in years. What I do know is that I'm 100% certain that a prime RJJ beats a prime JC everytime.

He is not. He is just going to outwork and tire him out and walk away with a decision.

Agreed. RJJ just doesnt have his legs anymore. And for a reflex fighter your legs and footwork are a cornerstone to being effective. He doesnt have the same quickness he once did, even if his handspeed is still impressive. He cant fight full out for a full 12, he gets on the ropes to rest, comes off them, repeat repeat.
Calzaghe likely wont knock him out but he is going to make it awkward for Jones, he is going to be forcing him to react every minute of every round. I expect RJJ to end up like Hopkins. After the 8th they just simply gassed out, they couldnt keep up the pace. Even Kesseler got tired around the 9th round. Not that Kesseler is anywhere as good a fighter as BHop or RJJ, but even him being in his prime, Calzaghe tired him out.

With Roy's Glass Jaw anything can happen. Feather fisted Glen Johnson brutally KOed Roy. If he could there is no reason Calzaghe can't KO Roy also.

Some of you are blind to how bad Roy's Chin really is.
