How exaggerated are boxer's heights?

  1. I'm about 5'9, I've met Lennox Lewis before and he is very much the giant you saw on the tv.

Off the top of my head:

Khan is shorter than he is usually billed. Probably 5'9 and change.

Naz is very short. It's difficult to tell with people down there, but I can't see him being any more than 5'3

    Barrera is not 5'7

Hatton looked slightly taller than I thought he would, but it could have been his footwear and I was hammered at the time (walked past him on the street)

Eubank is around 5'10, but he is stacked. It's hard to believe he used to make 160.

Lewis is huge and seems to fill the room. Bruno seemed a legit 6'3, but not quite as stocky as I imagined (it wasn't too far back though, and he may have lost a bit of muscle)

Collins seemed around 6'0, and physically bigger than you might think

    Haye is 6'2 at most

This has always been part of sports not only in boxing. They always tend to add an inch or two to athletes and size as well. Very common in basketball and football as well.

I've stood next to Wlad and he is definitely taller than 6'5, more like 6'6-6'7. I don't know why he always says he is 6'5.

If Wlad was only 6'5 why is he taller than Lennox Lewis, Tony Thompson, Ray Austin, Jameel McCline. Didn't you see how he dwarfed Foreman?

i remember on one of the hbo broadcasts larry merchant brought up that they measured mike tyson and he was indeed about 5"11. but James Toney's height is always a question for me. He was listed as high as 6ft if I remember. I think he's closer to 5'11 than 5'9, probably around 5'10.5

im 6'1" in my bare feet..about 6'2" in my boots and i towered above pacquiao in dallas. He was shockingly small, not only short but his upper body was very slight. However, it is equally shocking so see his calves..they seem more enormous in person. He's about 5'5" maybe 5'5.5" absolutely tops.

For what it's worth, when clottey walked by he was about 5'7" and was ripped to shreds but actually had a very long lean build. The camera adds about 15lbs to these guys. It plays serious tricks.
I remember seeing malignaggi v diaz live in chicago and looking in the ring they both look slight , but when you looked up at the monitor malignaggi looked musuclar and diaz looked chubby.

and for the record at the NBA pre-draft measurements which are spot on lamar odom was 6'10 (barefeet) and 235 in 1999.
Vitali then is 6'8..another example of under listing so he can find opponents.

I think Foreman has probably shrunk by now. But I did meet Big George back in 1999 -- I even got a picture with him -- and he didn't strike me as that tall of a guy, definitely not a 6'4" guy. He seemed more like 6'2". I'm 5'9 1/2" barefeet by the way. Foreman's son is listed as being 6'5", and he makes George look short!

I don't know why but they all are listed a few more inches, I know Duran and Macho and they are midgets in person, although I knew Medal and he really was more or less at what he was listed.

Floyd is 5'8'', I ran into him several times in Vegas and talked to him at length, he is eye to eye with me, exactly the same size really, maybe just a bit wider in the hips.

Winky Wright was the guy who looked smaller than I thought he would, barely bigger than me. If he's 5'10'' I would be surprised, and his calves are bone thin, tiny tiny tiny legs. Jameel McCline towers over everyone in the room, he's enormous.

Villoria was super tiny, I actually got a pic with him. 5'4'' seems right for his height. Floyd would be that much taller than Villoria.

why would paul williams being exceptionally tall for the welterweight class make people question him being in the weight class?
