One way to win in boxing is the "hit and don't get hit" strategy followed by Rigo and many others. Some fighters have to tuck in their chins and bang away. IMO, the best do a bit of both. All in all, the goal is to win. However you can, however you have to, win. Obviously, not every style is going to please every fan. So, how exciting do you find Rigo?
I enjoy his style a lot. He has so little fights, that I find myself trying to scavenge for even new training videos just to see him in motion
call me crazy, but i have rewatched Rigo-Donaire more times than Rios-Alvarado II and i find it more pleasing to watch :conf
People act like hes boring in every fight, watch the Kennedy and the Ramos one, he didnt fear them at all so he went for it early
It's early, but the poll is a leaning a little more towards "exciting" than I thought. The man is skilled, no doubt. I do doubt that he will be marketable to casuals, though.
You are not crazy, when you watch Rigo vs Nonito you know you are watching elite level fighters, Alvarado Rios are c+ fighters matched perfectly to sell the fight, while Rigo vs Nonito was fight to decide the best in the division.
For the record, I'm about the second option. The man is skilled. I can appreciate that, but I'm not having friends over to watch his fights nor am I clearing out a Saturday night unless he's fighting another top notch fighter.
This, they expected him to go all out against elite fighteratsch he stuck to the game plan, neutralized Donaire completely and reasonably respected his power but clearly beat him (at best for Donaire he lost 8 to 4, i scored it 9 3 for Rigo).
Highly skilled, athletically gifted fighters are immensely entertaining to me. His style itself is really a secondary aspect, enhanced greatly by the former.
Well he has power thats all casuals need, just match him good and he will KTFO few guys and casuals will love him.
