How far apart do you feel Golovkin and Saunders are in resume?

This post has given a good debate to the thread

So you feel a long list can over rule certain other good wins?
I can understand that as I recall saying something similar where Ottke didn't have a name like Kessler compared to Ward, but overall with so many names had imo a greater SMW resume

    Could it be argued
    Saunders
    Beat Ryder who beat Jacobs
    Also beat Lemieux and Murray
    Throw in Eubank jnr
Throw in O Sullivan when undefeated
    Lee

    Also a smw champ

    Debatable I think

I think it comes down to if you rate Saunders wins over undefeated Eubank jnr and Lee as higher than many of Golovkins wins

I just don't rate Eubank and Lee as that great. Solid, for sure, but if a guy like Eubank was that good he'd have sacked up and faced GGG when he'd had the chance.

Ryder beat Jacobs ... yeah, but a Jacobs that had a LOT more miles on him than when Golovkin faced him, who won pretty clearly and not by SD. The same deal with Murray: a LOT more miles on him than when he faced GGG, and again, Golovkin sealed that deal, just like he stopped a fresher Lemieux. O'Sullivan ... heh ... well, I kinda like him, he's a fun fighter, lots of fire in him. But he's lost almost every time he's stepped up.

It's not just that Golovkin's list is much longer, it's that he beat these guys more convincingly when they were fresher.

For what its worth I think Saunders could have had a much better career if he'd been more serious. What he achieved is not equivalent to the talent he had.

You mentioned mileage for Jacobs but there could have been an argument for him beating Golovkin and if we go by the mileage argument, it could be said that Jacobs had already been beaten clearly by Pirog inside the distance

    Not at all
I think Golovkin is the greater fighter. No question, but I asked win resume and looking at the top 5 for either, think regardless of circumstances is very close and debatable

If you're going to go by argument for x beating x, Golovkin beat Canelo twice.

I wrote win resume, not about opinions of certain fights. It was win resume
I expect there are some who felt Eubank jnr deserved the win over Saunders, but on paper it was a win for Saunders, so only looking at win resume
Just for reference, I seem to recall thinking Saunders had done enough for that decision

Then don't say "Jacobs but there could have been an argument for him beating Golovkin" if you want to go strictly by the judges.

There is no arguement about GGG beating Jacobs. Close but clear victory for GGG.

Here’s the the problem, bud - what you’ve done is made a statement that you believe is true but have phrased it as a question. The parameters that you’ve placed on your “question” are so tight that there’s no room for debate or even nuanced insight. A more honest and forthright way of starting this thread would’ve been to copy and paste boxrec stats for both men and saying, “Based on a cold, hard computer generated formula there is minimal difference between the subjective 5 best wins of GGG and Billy Joe Saunders.”

    1) Regardless of whether some people think he beat Golovkin, there's a much better argument for Jacobs beating Ryder than Jacobs beating Golovkin
    2) Jacobs came in much larger than Golovkin because GGG was restricted in weight gain due to the limit imposed by the IBF, whereas Jacobs simply decided not to contest the IBF belt
    3) So you are making the argument that the Jacobs that Ryder beat was defeated by both GGG and Pirog? ;) That doesn't help the cause.

Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, Canelo X2..yes he won those ****ing fights, Lemuix, macklin, murray, geale and martirosyan. Billy joe beat a washed murray who retired like twice prior fighting saunders and he beat a washed lemiux and he ran like a *****.
