19 Apr 2011 Alex Leapai speaks Photo and report by Ray Wheatley–World of Boxing WBO #14 heavyweight Alex Leapai (23-3-3, 18 KOs) scored an impressive three round KO over former world heavyweight challenger Peter OkHello (20-6, 18 KOs) to capture the IBF Australian title in Jakarta, Indonesia on Sunday. Leapai has defeated several good Americans including Travis Walker in four rounds and Owen Beck in six rounds. “Peter OkHello went the distance in a WBC heavyweight title bout against Oleg Maskaev but I took him out in three rounds,” said Leapai. “Former heavyweight contender Sinan Samil Sam also had to go twelve rounds to beat OkHello.” Leapai concluded, “I am not a big heavyweight but I have the KO power in both hands to beat the best in the world and that includes David Haye and the Klitschko’s.” Leapai is trained and managed by Noel Thornberry who also guided Samoan Masilino Masoe to the WBA middleweight crown.
Zero chance is a bit harsh mate IMO Okhello went the distance with Oleg and Sam but Alex stopped him stone cold in 3 Do doubt his skill set is not as good as the best HW's but he's got heart, power and mongrel in him not to fear anybody and go in he'll for leather IMO he's got a fair punchers chance :good
Geale vs. Mandy would FAR, FAR surpass Meehan vs. Leapai. It goes to show, everyone on here's talking about how well these blokes should get paid, yet the fact as it stands is, both couldn't sell a PPV to save themselves. If the bout is so big, why isn't Meehan's camp and Leapai's camp staging the even themselves and not waiting on a promoter to put it on? Outside of the boxing industry, only 4 people and a dog would know who either fighter is. It's not being harsh, it's just facts.
