I think some folk have forgotten he was in his first fight, so some of the stuff like choosing where to put his shots will develop. He's a young guy and he needs the same level of seasoning that everyone else does when they're coming up.

Yep. Its his Boxing IQ that will develop with experience. He'll probably get more an intuitive sense of what he needs to do in certain situations.

great post. some peoplke on here talk **** for the sake of it. he clearly looked a lot more talented and showed more things than many other debuts you see eg virtually all of the olympians.

but the entrance got people talking, for the casuals watching on terrestrial it was a great idea, people will remember him and watch him next time on 5, if i had a debutant with a famous dad on terrestrial tv id milk the **** out of it first fight, if hes doing it 20 fights down the line then ye thats not a great idea, but for now, brilliant, wasnt he trending on twitter?

Stay in the pocket and focus, Fitzgerald. And stop trying to dissect red herrings as i've noticed you trying to do in almost every thread you've posted in.

i know what you mean, and like i say if hes still doing it 10 fights down the line, the novelty will have worn off and people will say "oh hes just living off his dads name" even if hes doing well, but for the first fight genius move i though, get that nostalgia back around boxing on terrestrial, people remember eubank sr and if it gets people talking about boxing great shout imo! but ye i agree in the long run i'd want him to be a separate entity to his dad, and not have his dad walking over giving advice in between rounds, if his dad wants to be in the corner, be in the corner and be done with it

'Today I finally used the Mayweather defense effectively in sparring. I stopped practicing it for a while because it wasn't working for me but it takes time. Once you've got it though... say goodbye to getting hit.'

early to judge based on one fight, but there certainly wasn't anything glaringly obvious that he needs to work on - whether that will be the case when someone presents a challenge to him is a different matter.

Like how he has been brought along though. Snr is old school, knows the game inside out, and has guided jnr well, putting him with the likes of McCallum, good sparring etc. Boxing can be a nasty, nasty game behind the scenes - I would much rather see him with his old man guiding him than seeing someone like fat frank using him as his next cash cow...
