Former top Irish amateur, how far can he go in the pro ranks?

  2. Wasn't really a top amateur, won an elite title and didn't do much else. Looking at the team who's managing him he wont go far, they've already had shows being canceled for poor ticket sales. The best thing his management can do for him is to sign him up with a big English promoter, Eddie Hearn would obviously be the best seen as he has a few top Irish fighters in his stable and regularly does shows over here but i just don't see that happening.

Odds are they'll keep him fighting Latvian journey men in half empty halls for the next couple of years.

He's a big hitter with an exciting solid pro style, could go a few places with the right team around him.

He was never really a top amateur, although around 09/10 he was the best in the country, he sparked the likes of John Joe Joyce. He never really had the style to be succeed as an amateur, but the pro game is the best thing for him.

  4. Yeah. But i just don't think he has that, the KO promotion crew a bit of a joke imo.

I'm waiting for slap to see this thread to come in and put me in place ;)

Yeah, the pro game in Ireland here really has gone to **** over the last few years since Brian Peters got out of the promoting gig. The promotion teams you see around now don't seem to be doing well There's as many cards cancelled these days as their is taking place, and the fighters are suffering for it. Belfast is still going well though, if it wasn't for the amount of cards happening up there there would be no action for the prospects

what shows were cancelled for poor ticket sales:huh if you are talking about the Emerald show then that got cancelled that was because the headliner Cacace got injured.
Sutcliff needs steady work which he is getting,I think the lad will do well:deal

To right I will. A. I've nothing to do with KO promotions. B. They never cancelled any show. C. They already have a new date for him.

I think you are being a smidge unfair on his team.

I think the plan Is to get him fighting regular for couple of years then maybe get him in with a big promoter
He has the power and skills
Still to be seen if he has speed and chin
ko don't cancel shows that was couple of know nothing promoters who give Ireland a bad name
Hopefully emerald will put on a show with cacace Hughes in the summer when Hughes hand heals

He went 13 and 0 in the late 70s early 80s in the yorkshire area until getting stopped, decent record but there were some greats around that time such as Bundy and Dahmer in the USA. Also Columbia had some real hall of famers around that time too, Luis Garavito (The Beast) 138 and 0 and Pedro Alonso Lopez (The Monster of the Andes) 110 and 0, tremendous records and pound for pound all time greats for sure.

I know I am going to get slated for saying this but I think Sutcliffe has more potential then the likes of john Joe Nevin in terms of turning pro.
Why - simple - he has a pro friendly style.
In fact the reason why he isnt the best amateur in the country is simply because he likes to hit hard and get in close. That doesnt work in the amateur game. Don't get me wrong he has skills too, great footwork and nice defence.

It would be great if this pro camp he is in is temporary while he waits for a big promoter to sign him up. I think he would be a great addition to the collins camp but a move to UK or USA would be ideal.

Also think Wille McLaughlin should turn pro and possibly conrad cummings too.
