I've seen a few of his fights now, and he seems (at least to me anyway) to have had massive talent and potential when his conditioning and mind were right. With the right trainer and dedication, I think he could have gone a lot further in his career (not that he doesn't have some impressive wins already). He has that old school, rough/tough style that I love to watch. How far do you guys think he could have made it with the right trainer and dedication?

It should also be noted that he got a late start in boxing.

Great chin, and he was surprisingly cute. But providing you were top 20 in the world and on your game, you outpointed him 95% of the time.

He had the Chin, power, size and even some skills. Under different management and more dedicated training habits, he might have been a legit contender, given his performances against top quality men under lesser circumstances.

    Not far.

The 90s was a talent laden division with a deep supporting cast. He may have picked up a good win or two against top contenders who show up in poor form but I don't think he was a championship calibre fighter.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Ok, how about this, how would this dedicated, focused, and in-shape Puritty do on the current scene?

Potentially? He could have beaten a top 10 boxer or even a Klitschko brother.

He would have beaten Wladimir . Possibly Povetkin 2 and even Haye . In reality he would have been avoided by them .

I'd have picked him to give Tommy Morrison all kinds of trouble, if the over-protected Morrison ever actually fought him.
