I consider Floyd's prime to be around the Oscar and Hatton fights, which was years ago. I believe since Floyds been out of jail, we've seen him slow down. I thought he even looked slower in the Ortiz fight and his reaction time didn't seem as good since Ortiz was hitting him and coming very close on alot of occassions. I know *****'s don't like to hear that so don't agree with me. that is fine. My question is though, how much has floyd declined in past years?

I'm surpised Oscar doesn't say Floyd is slowing down, but maybe that is so they don't take away from the legitimacy of his fight with Canelo. Floyd looked good against Guerro but Guerro is as slow and plodding as they come and tailor made for a quick, savy boxer like Floyd.

I think Floyd has lost 10-15% of his speed. Overall I put him at about 80% of what he was in his prime.

What do you think? He's obviously not prime anymore.

He was prime, to me, from 98-01. Physically unstoppable, even if he achieved more from 07-present.

I can't argue that too much, but amazing he's held so much if that really was his prime. I guess not being in any wars and barely hit coupled with staying in shape 24-7 adds years to your boxing life. He has definitely played it super smart.

  4. His last fight in his prime was JMM. He doesn't punch on the move anymore, not as much as he used to anyway. I'm starting to believe we all might be high from the Guerrero fight. Robert had no business being in there with Floyd. He was tailor made for Floyd. So of course he looked great. Floyd is still one of the best defensively savvy fighters around now, him and Rigo are close skillset wise. Both are hard to hit. Hes declined about 20% id say. Still the best fighter in our generation. But I just don't see how this fight with Canelo is going to be "easy money". I'm telling you now, if he hurts his hand against canelo then he might be in serious trouble.

Not far enough to justify losing.

Maybe not in this era. Canelo isn't what alot of people make out to be IMO either. I may actually bet on Mayweather KO, as funny as that sounds, I just think Floyd may get up for this one and possibly be his last fight. I see him taking Canelo apart and late KO. Even a 60% Floyd beats this kid easy.

No way, Floyd is still close to as good as he ever was. Any amount he has lost in athletic skill he has gained back through experience. He will make that young man look slow and when it gets to the late rounds he will have more left in the tank than Alvarez.

I don't agree. He may LOOK good against horrible opponents like Guerro but that is just a mirage. He has slowed down considerably, is easier to hit etc. Bu yea his "performance" vs Guerro was great, but we aren't exactly seeing him in a fight, more just sparring sessions, him beating up tomato cans. He wouldn't get away with that vs. the oscar he fought or castillo, or even cotto possibly now.

He looked rather loose, fast, and alert in his last fight against Guerrero. It's hard to say how far he declined from his prime when he's still looking good, doing what he does.

Guerrero isn't anywhere near as slow and plodding as they come. Floyd makes just about everyone look that way.
