To think he just turned 26 years old and is the #1 star in boxing right now, looking better every fight. Did you see that head movement? The combos off the ropes? The kid is gifted.

He's only 26. He still needs to fight at least 6 more years, then we'll be able to gauge his status more accurately.

If he gets past Monroe Jr. I will rate him higher than Barrera and Morales.

And if he follows that up with a win over Curtis Stevens, I'll rank him higher than Chavez Snr and Juan Manuel Marquez

To be the greatest of all time, Canelo needs to cover the galactic distance between the earth and Dimension X.

I'd hate to try and rate a guy with a little of career left

I feel like he doesn't have that great win that puts him there, yet at least

But beating Golovkin (something I highly doubt he can do) would shoot him way up the ranks and redeem any mexican support he lost in the last year

Fatty Boy better continue ducking Golovkin because Golovkin will retire him. Nacho Baristain even said so.

In terms of current relevance to truly establish himself as a top P4P boarding generational fighters, his career path line assuming he fights again in Dec and 3 times next year.
If he could beat one of the Charlo's and unify JMW, then beat Saunders for WBO, as well as Golovkin for Undisputed at MW.
Unlikely to happen as at some point a gimmie fight will happen but taking 3/4 scalp's in his next 4 fights and a great argument for #1 P4P can be made, and would set him up nicely towards HOF status

Canelo already surpassed my expectations of him, I never thought he'd amount to more than a novelty, but I don't know if he'll ever enter the pantheon of Mexican greats. Time is on his side though and he's definitely talented.
