Martinez, JMM, Mayweather, Pac, Wlad and Vitali? How far past there prime are they really? And who will take over when they're gone? I know JMM just lost but it seems it was still a close fight far above his natural weight. But the reasons im asking are that people are now saying Marquez was overrated for losing a fight at the age of 40 and at welterweight, also nobody seems ready to beat the rest of these fighters even when they are close to 40
Martinez - past prime, and it's a quick process in his case. in his last fight he looked far from top-5 p4p fighter he used to be. JMM - slightly past prime Mayweather - to be honest, looks like Floyd is in his prime NOW. His skills and reflexes are as good as ever. Pac - clearly on the decline. Past prime, if not shot now. He's a bit slower now and isn't as sharp as he was in 2008-2010 Wlad - prime. No signs of decline, unless you count his clinches in his last fight as a marker. Vitali - well past his prime, which was shown in his fights against Charr and Chisora. No longer interested in boxing.
Martinez - Hard to tell, looked brilliant for 11 rounds against Chavez but then looked shite against Murray, although injuries and under-estimating his opponent may have played a part. JMM - Clear loss to Bradley, but that was always a tough match for him style-wise, know more in his next fight if he continues. Mayweather - He's just a force of nature, looks as good now as he's ever done. Pac - Easy to say he's past prime, didn't look too good against Mosley, Marquez III and Bradley, but looked decent against Marquez in the fourth fight and was getting on top before being KTFO, be interesting to see how he does against Rios. Wlad - Prime, but there's no opponents for him to fight. Vitali - Past prime, hasn't looked too good since Adamek fight and been out of the ring for ages.
Martinez - He's been in decline for a couple of years now. As he relies a lot on his speed and athleticism he will decline faster than most. I think at 38 he's ready to be taken. JMM - Looked pretty good against Pac but seemed to have lost some speed and sharpness against Bradley, he just could not pull the trigger. He's still got a lot to offer but the decline has definitely begun. Mayweather - Physically he's not as dynamic as he once was, he's been in decline for a while now. But just like Hopkins he has adapted his style and seems to be as effective as ever. He'll continue to decline physically but it won't effect him too much he has so much skill and experience he should be able to stay on top for some years to come. Mayweather will be the last man standing from this group of ageing champions. Pac - Clearly been in decline for about 3 years now. It's pretty obvious the intensity and work rate is no longer there. He used to be a little cyclone of destruction that would just overwhelm opponents always firing back and forcing the pace. Nothing like that now, he's got a year or 2 at most. Wlad - He didn't look good against Pianeta or Povetkin. It seems he has begun to decline recently but the rot have ma have set in earlier as it has been hard to tell, due to the very poor level of opposition he has been facing like Mormeck and Wach. Vitali - Been in decline for a last couple of years. I have a feeling we won't see him fight again.
