    How far can he go?

How long til he's British and Euro champ?

Who, also coming up in the lww division (around Europe and America etc) will keep him company when he hit's the world scene?

Let's just say for exapmple, that he was in the mix in today's lww landscape. How would he fare?

Difficult to really tell, as he's not fought any1 who's got that much going for them, but he's got everything needed to be a top fighter.

He doesnt get into wars unneccesarily, and he's got great fundamentals, works the body and he's got great lateral movement, and with him being a southpaw, he's any1's nightmare opponent.

I'd say if he's still a warren fighter within the next 10 fights he's established european champ with a WBO title shot

he has made significant improvments on his early fights where he was fighting with his heart to much.

he has all the tools. if he is dedicated i would be shocked if he doesn't win a world title.

everyones heard me question his conditioning. I still maintain that and think he should work with a strentgh and conditioner. i just see a very physical fighter being able to walk through him. Theres some massive guys at 140lbs.

You would hope world champion, but he seems to be getting held back by warren. He should of fought for the british by now or at least an eliminator by now imo. Apparently his next fight is a big step up by i wont hold my breath.

He's only had 9 odd fights, I'd give it a couple more fights before he's ready for a British Title fight. Although with Theophane going for the eliminator, he may get the shot sooner rather than later.

To be fair he is on his way and he has missed out on 1 or 2 fights due to injury and family issues so thats the only reason he is slightly behind Degale. He should be British title level in 2-3 fights.

It doesnt help at least from Frankie's point of view that Theophane doesn't want to play ball

If Theophane doesn't want to fight him and he wants to win the British title just stay at 147.

He'll be up there soon enough anyway, no point putting miles on the clock making the lower weight when he'd tool all the British welters with relative ease.

Theophane would happily take that fight but he has never been offered it. Plus he is owes Mick Hennesey options.

He may be able to beet all the British Welterweights but he is to small for the top boys at world level. He needs to do his learning fights at 140lbs as thats where he is going to challenge for world honours.

At risk of sounding like Rob he needs to stay at 140 for the time being at least until he moves through the levels.

He starts to give a lot more potentially away at 147 than I would be comfortable with. Purdy would be an easy fight for Gavin but he needs to progress at 140 first of all he could move through the levels domestically at 147.

He starts to hit fringe world level at 147 he runs into problems that he doesnt at 140

If Theophane is tied up then with Hennessy and a soon to be appointed mandatory, given that you are mad keen on titles.... do you suggest he waits around for an eliminator to become mandatory..... or just bypass domestic and move on?

As I've said, I don't see the big deal in fighting the domestic welterweights and dropping down to 140 if he can make the weight right for a big fight. It's only 7lbs, no big deal. None of them are anything special, get them beat and progress.

As for being too small, that I doubt. Unless the size difference is huge there are factors such as boxing ability that are more significant.

Are you not the biggest fan ever off the lonsdale belt??

If Gavin wants the British title at 140lbs its pretty simple. He fights and eliminator May 21st. Steve Williams, Nigel Wright, Lenny Daws, Jason Cook all fights that could be made as a final eliminator and wouldn't cost very much. If Gavin is half the fighter we think he is he wins them with ease as well as the Theophane fight. One of the 4 in May and Theophane in September. A fight inbetween would be nice but I doubt it.

I agree he should just go straight to European level. The title there is currently vacant.

BB sometimes you say some crazy stuff. The 7lbs is a big deal and a major factor. First off all its good at this stage of his career for Frankie to be used to making championship weight. If he stays at 147 for 18 months he will grow into that weight. His team have made it clear he wants to be at 140lbs. If he is fighting guys like Purdy, Watson, Vassell he will need to use speed, skill to beat them. At 140lbs he can build himself into a beat that no only has the speed and skills but also the power and size to dominate opponents.

    1. Yes I'm a big fan of the Lonsdale belt. But I don't think it particularly matters whether he wins one at 140 or 147. There's no law saying you have to weigh in at 147 for a welterweight fight.

    2. You've just said that Theophane owes options to Hennessy. That's likely to make him unavailable for a potential showdown in September.

    3. In 18 months he's probably going to be up at 147 anyway. He looked in pretty good shape against Lomax at 146lbs. You're reading too much into Ricky Hatton being able to physically dominate fighters at 140 and be weak at 147. Gavin isn't that kind of fighter, he's a boxer primarily.

He's more than capable of beating the likes of Purdy and Watson, of that I'm certain.

Each to their own of course, it's all about opinions.

He is more than capable to beat domestic opposition at 147 but I think he will struggle at world level at 147 as theres guys there with skill, power and the size.

Look at Ortiz, Berto, Mosley and even Mayweather in his last fight. The sizes of there backs and arms. There beasts compared to Gavin. Even at 140lbs Gavin is small.

Its not about height. Its stature.

It seems like im always digging at frankie. im not im just playing devils advocate. i really rate him just dont think 147 is where he wants to be ever.
