It's beyond overrated, the guy is a decent athlete and that's it. Boxing wise his talent is very limited. Non-existent ring IQ, winging punches, flat footed, no defense (and no that shoulder **** isn't defense if you're getting hit all the time). I think talent means more than just your athleticism, the mental aspect of the sport is just as or maybe even more important then the physical aspect of it so when we think of "talent" in boxing it's absolutely paramount to consider how talented of a thinker the boxer is or how well he's mastered the boxing technique.
Berto is faster than him. And has much more power. Heck I would say Berto has more talent too. I don't get where the idea of Broner having the potential for talent comes from, I can name dozens of fighters around his division that have more "potential" than him. Malignaggi and Judah are also equal to his speed.
He's got good hand speed, I'd say top 10, maybe 5 at welter. His foot speed is slow, head movement is slow, brain is slow lol Forgot he's at 140, rates lower at that weight.
Nope, your brain just isn't as tuned into boxing as mine. Broner definitely has faster punches than all you mentioned. "Looking fast" is different than being fast. Things like timing, reflexes, make you seem faster. (IE your opponent is unable to hit you and wiffs like a human windmill constantly despite the fact that your punches are all hitting the mark and they are unable to react. This doesn't mean you have superior handspeed. COuld just be the result of better timing/reflexes) Also being predictable means you can get timed, whether it be timing for defense or offense. (Porter knew when Broner would throw many of his punches, and thats why they didn't hit the mark.) This is why Broner doesn't LOOK fast when compared. But if you really focus on the speed of the hands hes quicker than anyone hes faced.
