Haye talks a lot of smack about how he, unlike other Wlad opponents, would constantly move, use head movement, punches in bunches etc. Just rewatch Haye's best wins, Fragomeni, Mormeck, Barrett. Where does he do all these things, except in short spurts???? For much of these fights, Haye is standing there, trading shots, trying to evade just with head movement without using his feet. He does not look particularly fast against the smaller Fragomeni, who is anything but a speed demon. Haye would need so much more speed and movement against a 6'6 fighter with a long jab and good reflexes than anything he has ever shown and he would need to keep it up throughout the fight.

The Wlad who beat Chagaev against the Haye who beat Fragomenie, Mormeck, Barrett would be an easier win for Wlad than Chagaev.

In reality he doesn't do these things, he talks about them because he's a hype merchant, and some internet types have latched onto him because they are bored of Wlads solid but unspectacular approach and are willing to jump onto any band wagon that comes along.

i admit i dont like vlad but im glad theirs finally a RING champion, imo the vlad that fought chagaev would be kod by haye simply because he was too willing to go backwards

Quick hands but slow and sometimes sloppy footwork. Nice upper body movement but his idea of a guard is to scratch the side of his left knee.
Either Klit will knock him out and I am in no way a big fan of those boring overated bozo's!

his speed of foot isn't anything special, he has decent reflexes that help him avoid incoming punches but you'd have to be blind to not notice that he does have pretty impressive handspeed for a guy his size.

that right over the top of his opponents jab is a killer.

Hands - damm fast for a heavy but his real power shots are usually fairly wide so that takes some speed away

Footspeed isnt lightning but he used what he has and he is faster than most heavys still.

His upper body movement is very good and he was obviosuley working on keeping his hands high up while training for Wlad almost tyson esque which is ideal to cause Wlad problems because once you get past the jab all he can his hold. Haye is a bit of counter puncher more often than not - he waits for a missed shot then lands 1-2s of his own and with his power thats all he needs most of the time

So what if he goes backwards a few times in a fight? He is tall, has very strong arms to tie up his opponent and leaning back is therefore effective for him. Haye has fought smaller opponents for most of his career, he has never shown a Tyson - like style to get inside a bigger man.

His hand speed is good OCCASIONALLY when he explodes with a right over the top. For much of the fight against Fragomeni, they looked equally fast. Haye has great power for a cruiser and could get away with his style at that weight, hW is a different ballgame.

from what I've seen of Haye, skill-wise he ain't much better than Froch. Don't get me wrong, i like Froch, but he's hardly SRL.

When Sanders had Wlad in trouble, Wlad just crouched down behind his gloves and Sanders could then land at will. Going backwards is something that Manny taught him and made him very hard to hit. Wlad was never beaten because of going backwards.

Haye got hit with good shots by Fragomeni and Mormeck, which are arguably Haye's best wins at cruiser. Wlad's best wins are probably Byrd, Brewster in the rematch, Chagaev. Wlad got hit with fewer shots in these three fights combined than Haye got his just by Fragomeni alone. In the hit and not be hit ratio, Haye hardly looks better than Wlad.

I would have to review some tapes to look at his head and foot movement but I know he has great hand speed.

If Haye chases him with a big shot while he's going backwards he leaves his self open for a counter. Going backwards the way he did isn't bad at all when it's obvious he plans to fire back now unlike before.

im not really trying to say haye is better or worse im saying styles make fights and i just see haye chasing him down all night, vlad goes backwards in straightish lines and haye will know the only punch coming back will be jabs or straight rights, haye can slip thoughs and go in hard, haye reach is only four inches smaller than vlads it not like he wont be able to find that chin

but vlad doesnt counter, in all honesty haye will leave himself open but, his reach isnt too much shorter than vlads, its not like he has the same reach as chagaev
