i felt a little sorry for Kelly Pavlik. how can anyone call the middleweight champion of the world exposed. Pavlik just fought a Guy who beats him 9 times out of 10, he's a one dimentional fighter but doesn't make him a bad fighter and he still beats most or all M/W and SMW fighters. I don't care about undefeated records because in todays climate it just means a fighter is yet to step up or take a risk and being handled with kid gloves. One day he's the "saviour of boxing" the next he's "exposed"? how fickle are boxing fans...:-(
It was a little too one sided. But I think Bhop put on his best performance and Pavlik really had no answers. That being said Pavlik is still the best middleweight in the world and has one more guy to beat to be king of the middleweight division. Its mainly the euro haters b/c of the Pavlik/Calzaghe little feud. But there is no way in gods name Calzaghe could of done what bhop did with his simple bounce in bounce out routine. **** him and them.
I don't think its Calzaghe fans getting on Pavliks back, if anything he's done Calzaghe a favour...now Joes win over Hopkins looks even better thanks to Pavlik.
If he and Loew weren't so cocky and dismissive of the Living Legend, I would feel sorry for Pavlik. As it stands, I do not. This was a much needed lesson in humility. You can't go around talking **** about two great fighters(Calzaghe and Hopkins), get your ass handed to you and expect people to feel sorry for you.
yer, loew WAS pop n off but pavlik was just confident perhaps a little over-confident. the kid is good for boxing and i hope he unifies the middleweight division
Maybe a lot of it on her was that the Pavlik fans were a vocal lot and some of the threads started (Pavlik vs Hagler, Pavlik at Cruiserweight etc) were way over the top considering who the guy had actually fought.
pavlik should have a couple of easy mandatory's (rubio) get confidence back then take on AA and then paul williams
you're right there's no balance either he's the savior or exposed. Hopkins beats him 9/10 and before the fight the only questions were which hopkins would turn up and would it be close enough for hopkins to be robbed
From savior to goat in 12 Rounds. Pavlik doesn't deserve that. No, it looks like people found out alot of things about Pavlik and his corner. Atleast they're just calling him 'exposed' and not a 'bum'.
My god... I can't believe the front on some people in these forums. The guy defended once against gary lockett and then his next fight was hopkins at a higher weight. there is no comparison. He would not beat Calzaghe and he never will. All this talk of a JC-Bhop rematch based on saturdays performance is totally stupid. It'd go the same as the first fight. Hopkins always does well against middleweights but Calzaghe is all kinds of wrong for him
One one hand a lot of fans whinge that a fighter doesnt take on challenges and ducks his opponents, but as soon as one does the brave thing and steps up but gets beaten, the same fans claim that he is exposed! Those kind of fans deserve to be stuck watching crap PPV cards with mismatches as fights.
Ridiculous. Hopkins landed all of the meaningful shots in that fight. He was the better defensive fighter and showed the better ring generalship. Calzaghe simply threw more punches, many of them were arm punches that missed or barely landed.
In this instance "Ring Generalship" is just gets used a substitute for throwing punches. Sure judges score for it but when one fighter is the aggressor who throws and lands more punches then he usually gets the nod.
Calzaghe's punches weren't even landing for the most part. They were hitting air, arms and shoulders.
