How good a boxing analyst are you, out of 10?

I rated myself 7 ..There is allot of history that I need to catch up on ..

**** some people on here talk some massive amounts of bull****. This thread is basically going to just turn into a big dick sucking session, so let me give an actual HONEST opinion on some of the posters here. Not "i rate myself 4, now everyone please compliment me so i can feel better about myself".... I rate myself a 7-8. Mainly because my knowledge of older fighters is pretty sh*t house. Still, i have a decent record in picking upcoming fights, having won tipping comps, at the upper end of the one in the general forum, and with a decent amount of vcash. In terms of tipping i think i am probably slightly better then some people here although they would have BETTER overall boxing knowledge. Brooklyn is a 9.5 for boxing knowledge, but a 7 for predictions IMO, or from what i have seen. Same with KG0208. Amsterdam is very good at analyzing styles, and would probably be the best at tipping here if he didn't completely go to ABSOLUTE EXTREMES, every single time he makes a pick. Sweat Pea is very good alround in both picking and knowledge, under rated on this site, probably one of the best posters here. 8.5 overall IMO, Let down by his bias which comes into play though for older fighters, particularly his favourites.

 

McGrain and Sues2nd are great posters in terms of boxing knowledge, far better then myself, but who aren't as gifted at making predictions IMO. 9 for knowledge, 6.5 for predictions based on what i have seen. Huki is a good alround poster, good analysis, good overall knowledge. ACB is a very good alround poster, one of the most under rated on the site. Both these guys are at least 8 IMO overall. WhataRock IMO is THE BEST poster on this site though overall, in terms of predictions and knowledge. The guy has absurd boxing knowledge, of fighters most here would have never heard of. 9 overall. Decebal is a great overall poster, who is increasing his knowledge. His predictions let him down though, and sometimes his analysis is just plain bad IMO (Pavlik v Dawson being a prime example). 7 Overall. I am leaving heaps of good posters out for sure, but thats my 2 cents anyway. Take it or leave it, i don't give a sh*t, i have tried to be as honest as possible. Not kiss up to certain posters around here like others try to. The way things are developing into an inner "clique" around here is sickening, it reminds me of the lounge.

 

The whole Magum stuff is a total farce. Boxing is a sport, which often times relies on chance. No one is right 100% of the time, and nothing in sport of any kind is certain. Trying to make some "mythical" poster up is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard in my life. Reality is slipping very fast around this place, with some of the claims that are being made.

 

Who'd do a thing like that?

 

I'll give myself a 6. I still need to learn about the fighters that fought in damn near dinosaur era

 

In terms of my fight picking ability, I'm a 6 or a 7 right now. I've been getting them wrong left and right this year (Quintana/Williams, Diaz/Campbell, Calzaghe/Hopkins, Vazquez/Marquez 3, Pacquiao/Marquez 2).

 

Did you score Pacquiao/Marquez for Pacquiao? I felt Marquez won, and scored it for him by a point. I wouldn't really consider that a missed or bad pick.

 

I had it Marquez 115-112 watching it live and Marquez 114-113 when watching it a second time.

Got Casamayor/Katsidis wrong too.

 

All those fights were close except the Diaz fight. Vasquez/Marquez and Pac/Marquez could've gone either way. Williams fought a **** poor fight and Quintana fought a great fight yet he only won 115-113 on my card. We'll see what happens in the rematch.

 

I'm having trouble making a pick in that one. Can Williams learn from the loss and adjust? Or will Quintana's counterpunching and underrated slickness carry the day once again?

 

That's another tough one. Casa looked like **** against Santa Cruz. Katsidis might have won had he not decided to do his best Ricky Hatton impersonation.

 

we all go through bad spells. I picked Hopkins to beat Taylor, Morales to beat Diaz, Kessler to beat Calzaghe, and Woods to beat Tarver... the list goes on

 

An absolute TONNE of people got Williams v Quintana wrong though as well as Diaz/Campbell. No fault there. Vaszquez v Marquez and Pac v Marquez are a prime example of what i am talking about. These guys could fight 5 times and would end up 3-2.... It has nothing to do with PERFECT boxing analysis, just more so a bit of luck. Your analysis of fights is still excellent though Brooklyn, even if you got unlucky on a couple of pics. Things like judges, performance on the night itself, the ref etc etc are all variables that cannot be controled. Its stupid to try and make claim that you can get EVERY SINGLE fight correct. The only person who can really do that, is the person who NEVER gives there tips for fights, until after they have been fought------ M A G N U M!!!!!!
