How good a boxing analyst are you, out of 10?

Due to links I had the pleasure of watching (comparing) Hagler-Hearns to Pavlik-Miranda. Both fights are great entertaining with a lot of trading, thats about it talking about similarities. Hagler-Hearns had feinting, head movements, lateral movement, superb counterpunching and SPEED.

I hate to say it nuthugging style but Pavlik is there to be hit all night, it was unbelievable seeing Miranda getting away with telegraphing wild swings over a timespan of 2 second and actually landing them several - times in a row!

I dont think Pavliks got a bad chin, he just likes being hit a lot

I still admire him though his obviously willing to run every risk.

There are better fighters who shamefully lacks that quality

 

Id say about a 9. if I have seen enough of the fighters, I can pretty much sum up what ways a fight can turn up as. There are a few fights where sometimes my bias can sway my thoughts on the fight. The best analysts in the world out there cant guess it right all the time cos boxing is such an unpredictable sport.

I never like to rate myself on things like this...you either come across as an egomaniac (by overrating yourself) or as "fishing for compliments" by underrating yourself...and rarely does someone looking at their own strengths and weaknesses, get it right. Its too tough to do.

So to answer the original question...Id just go with whatever you guys think of me.

Honestly I'd rate myself above average . . . 4.

I've joined both betting threads in this forum . . . the ESB Big Fight picks and Kirk's . . . and my record should speak for itself.

In about 20 fights since the year start I've made a mistake of picking the wrong winner only 4 to 5 times so far. Taylor vs Pavlik twice . . . Casa vs Katsidis and the Bhops vs Calzaghe.

Maybe I could have done better . . . but sometimes my bias affects my objectivity in picking the winners. :yep

 

He speaks analytically, but has little substance in the end most of the time and always missed the points I was trying to make.

He's a comedic character if anything, but with a good knowledge of what happened in actual fights, as he's seemingly seen a vast many.

 

Not just what happened in the fights but about the fighters themselves as people.

 

Looking at my Vcash, I'd feel safe rating myself a solid 8 if not a nine.

 

I had 80,000 vCash prior to Klitschko-Ibragimov....

Of the best analyst on this website id have to go with Huki & Amsterdam up top. Although both guys seriously has gotta stop underrating my man Pac and stop licking the balls of those who appear "flash". Both guys are 9, would be a 10 if they didnt have such strong bias for flashy guys. Huki & I think Amsterdam for example would go with the Guz>JMM>pac theory, I think completely opposite with pac>JMM>Guz. And yes I am right about this one guys

Guys like KG & Brooklyn have very good knowledge of the sport and very good analytically, infact they analyse a fight in a way I would agree with, however an analysis of a fight can reap more than 1 result depending which side you go for. They tend to lean more to the other side. Brooklyn for example I think picked Lacy KO over Pavlik, WTF!?!?!? I can certainly see where the logic is coming from but I really wouldnt sway to that side. Their about an 8.

PacDbest & Divac are around 6-7. They know what their talking about, certainly above average but heavily clouded in judgement due to bias.

Pavlik stops Lacy now. Lacy is done mentally and physically.

I'd pick the Lacy of 2005 to stop Pavlik though at 168.

It's too difficult to be objective in regard to one' s own self.

And the benchmarks are confusing, with Decebal having set the bar so high, and PacDBest setting it so low.

Given that a 10 is usually reserved for perfection, I'll withhold that (or maybe CHJ should be considered.)
