How good a fighter could David Haye have become if he didn't have a rubbish coach?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Ryan O'Reilly, Mar 6, 2012.

  1. As we all know Adam Booth is rightly seen as a joke in the sport. Booth who famously picked up his training techniques from watching decent coaches on youtube. Not to mention this is the man that thought the best way to train for a Klitschko fight was to put a glove on the end of a mop and whack David over the head with it while wearing stilts, Unbelievable! No wonder David broke his toe.

So my question is, what could David have achieved with a top class coach in his corner like a Stewart, Roach or an Atlas?

Seriously though he could be very very good. Has all the tools. Would like to see him with roach or someone different.

He might well have been a real world champ. I agree Both seems to be a bit of a clown.

A more pertinent question would be: could Ryan O'Reilly have been a funny troll if he didn't have an extra chromosome.

    No, he's point is legit.
Booth is a so-so trainer to put it mildly.
David Haye could have been so much more under a really good trainer.

Booth did a great job for Haye and is doing another great job for Groves. Might not have the background of other trainers, but that isn't the be-all end-all. Jim McDonnell fought for world titles and trained Herbie Hide to a world title win but look at his work as DeGale's trainer vs Booth's work as Groves' trainer.

Adam booth doesn't have time to train Haye or Groves at the moment, he won't train a single fighter until he finds out who glassed him.

I was thinking about this, his trainer is not on the level to help him with anything!!!

Haye does seem to have the speed and power to compete with the Klitschkos, but not the heart or the brain. Great fighters have at least one of those 2 or both. How in the **** do you want to be a great by punching one punch at a time? He doesnt attack the body in close quarters, doesn't throw combinations, doesn't counter, can't put pressure where even a guy like Floyd knows how to do at times. He has great athleticism and reflexes, but the excuse of losing a career defining fight because of a ****ing toe are you shitting me?

If you saw the fight you would have known it was for circus. Haye is probably the one boxer in the world who has talent enough to take Wlad out. Too bad he is a bit of a clown.
