I dont know much about him but i keep hearing he has elite boxing skills and an impressive jab. Among the UFC, who boxes better and do you think he is good enough to box professionally and compete at a high level? (No im not starting a boxing vs mma ****)

I see so not many people work on their boxing in MMA? Penn is the one that does it the most?

No, people work boxing, just not enough as the elite pro boxers do.

Penn is actually a great boxer for MMA, solid boxer overall. Hes got very solid head & body movement and hes a good puncher with a good chin.

I can't remember where I read it but some boxing trainer said he could make BJ a champ within 2 years. Its quite hard to imagine though because Arlovki;s boxing career is pretty much on the rocks now, as is Sylvia's lol.

but Bj is a little more complete than those two so who knows, there is nothing written in our DNA that says if we are in MMA we will suck at boxing.

Its a cliche you always hear about Penn, but hes so talented.

Boxing is the aspect of fighting that most relies on natural talent.

Penn has as much as anyone. he's better than Arlovski, who just looks like a gd boxer without being one imo.

above journeyman then, hes too deliberate and would have the lowest workrate of any boxer had he fought at MW. Great chin though and heavy hands

Arlovski is good at posing and moving like he can box but everytime he throws a punch , he leaves his fragile chin dangling. The only boxing he should be doing is shadwoboxing (coz hes good at it) and start remembering how to do Sambo.

If BJ had dedicated himself to boxing I think he could have been a top level boxer. Just with a handfull of years training hes became arguablly MMAs best boxer. BJ is a wonderful athlete he trained wrestling for a few months and now is one of the better wrestlers in MMA as far as having no pedigree and it took him only 3 years to become the best at BJJ. We seen what he did in the pool, the guy is a sick and unreal kind of person.

BJ has very good boxing skills. Nice footwork, good technique and his skills are class. However when he gets tired (which is relatively quickly) his footwork gets sloppy as does the rest of his game.

He is a good boxer but his cardio makes him a touch sloppy which is a real shame.

BJ's cardio is all that lets him down. He's the only Mixed Martial Artist who i truly believe would do well in a boxing ring. He has very good hands, good power, a granite chin and variation in his punching technique. He can be a bit flatfooted sometimes but thats generally as you already said when he gets tired.

Yeah but I think Boxing is a little more cardio based in some areas, so he wouldn't be able to get away without being in shape. If he was out of shape I doubt he would be able to do a 12 rounder
