for a welter he's massive - he may be 5 8 but he was something crazy like 170 on the night he fought Corrales

He puts on 20+ lbs between the weigh-in and the fight.

Chin seems solid. Normally pretty tight with his defense, but occasionally has lapses. Decent but not great speed for a SMW. Probably the best of the bunch out there after Calzaghe and Kessler, although Mundine has a pretty good claim to being better. I could see him holding onto a belt for quite a while. Not someone who will ever be able to beat the elite, but someone who should always be able to beat guys who are a level down, since he has so few real deficiencies.

Joachim Alcine - Perfectly mediocre boxer. Has decent power and is very rangy, but is pretty slow for a JMW, and doesn't throw a whole lot of punches. Sometimes can get too content waiting for someone to make a mistake and try counterpunching. Only beat Travis Simms due to Simms' inexplicable lack of desire to actually throw punches. Will be beaten by the next good opponent he faces.

Kassim Ouma - Best days seem to be behind him; just doesn't seem to care much at this point. At his best, was a massive volume puncher with little power and a solid chin who came at you at all kinds of angles and was a difficult style matchup for just about anyone. Now, his workrate is way down and his heart doesn't seem to be in it anymore.

Joan Guzman - Very talented defensive fighter. Power is way overrated - he doesn't have much, just people think he does because he's so massive. Has close to elite speed. Very good counterpuncher, and can put out very quick but ineffective combos. Has a history of hand problems, and often slaps like Calzaghe. One of those guys who's content to just win rounds and scrape by in a fight rather than demolish his opponent. Has a well-earned reputation as a runner, and he often fights off his back foot and potshots. On pure talent, he's great, but I question how well he'll hold up once he's really challenged by someone. Also, he's already on the old side, and since his skills are so great he's frequently ducked, so I doubt he'll ever be able to reach elite status before fading.

Jorge Barrios - Shaky defensive fighter with okay offensive skills. Extremely aggressive, always moving forward. Big body puncher. Has okay power, but record is padded by fighting cabdrivers and feather duster salesmen in Argentina. Can be easily outboxed by someone with good speed. When Guzman was trying, he absolutely eviscerated Barrios, but the fight ended up close because, as I said before, Guzman is content to barely win rounds and went through long stretches of inactivity.
