How good could Bowe have been if he reached his full potential, with the discipline to maintain a strong work ethic? (and good diet)
Eddie Futch made Bowe a complete offensive HW. He had it all - excellent jab, left uppercut, right uppercut, hooks, straight right hand, great workrate. I think if Bowe had work ethic like Holyfield he would've lasted a lot longer than he did, probably to his mid 30s. And therefore he would've have had deeper resume filled with late 90s - early 00s contenders and beltholders.
As good as Lennox Lewis perhaps? A top ten all time ranking might have been his if he had kept disciplined.
He was too hitable and not good enough chin to get away with it. He was getting hit too much even when he was in shape. Maybe he would have beaten moorer and foreman but not lewis. IMO
I don't think he would have done much more before the brain damage set in. He was getting hit a ton even in the fights he came in good shape for (e.g. Hide, Holyfield, Coetzer etc).
Was a lovely boxer to watch great jab and right hand great movement and inside game for a big bloke and fluid.didn't have the disciplin to match his talent.pity.
