His resume is as good as it possibly could be (aside from the upset losses to McCall and Rahman, of course). The only knock that can be made was that he didn't fight the Holyfield, Tyson, or Bowe in their primes. But the fact is those guys ducked for years. Bowe threw his belt in the garbage rather than fight Lennox. He's most accomplished HW champ since Ali.
OK, I'm going to throw this out there - it's just a question - playing devils advocate a bit. If Wlad avenges his defeat to Corrie Sanders, and unifies the division as well - how is his resume a million miles behind that of Lennox? They both faced Mercer - Tyson was a non fight... Are Ruddock, Golota, Briggs, Tua, and Grant amazingly better then anything Wlad has faced?
One word: Sparkling. Beat everyone he ever faced (as mentioned) and avenged both defeats. Beat the leading lights of the division and has HOFers on his resume in Tyson and Holyfield (shot or not).
Yeah, it's good. Top 5 HW of all time IMO (well....no.5) Although he let himself down against McCall and Rahman, he avened both losses in spectacular fashion. Beat an aged but still favoured Tyson. Beat Vitali Klitschko with only a few weeks to go, regardless of the controversy (I had Klitschko ahead by a couple of rounds) he smashed him up and Vitali is now being tipped to win a World title with no preperation, which shows people still rate him highly years after his last fight. And to think up until recently I didn't like Lennox now. Like Larry Holmes, only appreciated after he left.
Your bias and stupidity is well known when it comes to Lewis. I don't understand your dislike of him as none your criticisims hold any water. Rahman and Mcall were NOT second rate, flawed certainly, but not second rate, and his opposition is not ordinairy. On the contrary it is mostly of a high standard. Your attitude reminds me of the US crowd reaction when a tired and shot Lewis somehow managed to turn back the challenge of Vitaly. It was a courageous display and if that had been Holyfield he'd of had a public bloody holiday named in his honour! .The crowed cheered VK instead! America never warmed to Lewis for various reasons and your a good example of that distaste.
I think that's unfair - I don't think he should get credit for beating that washed up version of Tyson.
Lewis is an ATG. As I have written at http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2581726#post2581726 I have already analyzed 30000+ fighters and 350000+ fights and Lennox is definitely amongst the very top.
