I honestly thought that Marquez won their second fight, and always believed that Pacquiao got the win so that a fight with Oscar, Hatton or Mayweather may happen, and it did against Oscar in wish I was pretty excited and happy with the results of last night fight, but I just keeped thinking how good Marquez really is.

What do you guys think ?

    Another idea to consider:

How would have JMM fared against this Dela Hoya? Would have he won? How impressive? Or would Dela Hoya fought him better?

Just a thought while reading your thread.

it makes him look amazing......and i'm not saying that because i think JMM beat Pac or anything, but to be able have 2 very close fights with Pac says alot

    Sure it does.

You know damn well both fights could have gone either way.

I don't think it means all THAT much but it means something.

I have said it before, Pac and JMM have an easy time with pressure/head on fighters. They have hard times with counter punchers. Which is why Pac has trouble with JMM and JMM has trouble with fighters like Casa and Chris John.

I'm not sure how much it really means (different fights, different fighters) but JMM is definitely the hardest fighter Pacquiao has ever had, and IMO the pfp #2 in the sport.

mind you, his only claim for fame is pac. old casa, mab, juarez, jandeng, polo, salido, jaca and losing to chris john on his prime doesnt add to it.

you think jmm was rooting for pac to win? he does not care how good he'll look for competing against pacman, he wanted pac to lose so he could fight pac again. that pac win was horrible for jmm.

Coz Marquez knows if pac wins, he would lost a huge percent chance on meeting Pac again.

JMM is not the number 2. He lost against Chris John and he LOST against Manny.
Hopkins dominated Pavlik after his loss against Calzaghe, so was Calzaghes performance now outstanding? I hate this whole thing.
Styles make fights and Marquez is all wrong for Manny, but he still lost. Deal with it. You are not the number 2 p4p boxer if you lost your 2 fights against the best fighters you faced. The Manny-fight is Marquez biggest success, and he lost. How can he be ranked above a fighter who ist still undefeated and in his last 3 fights beat an unbeaten, unified world champion and a top5 p4p boxer.

Well, it'll make him look better for guys like Dan Rafael, but I won't be fooled by this victory. I give Manny credit for going up to Welterweight and destroying Oscar, but in all honestly, this was an Oscar who came in weight drained like crazy and rehydrated only 2 pounds overnight. When you are 35 years old, you aren't supposed to be going down in weight like that. And it's not like Oscar was just at 145 for 1 day, he's been around that weight for close to a month I believe. A weight he hasn't fought at in nearly 8 years.

JMM should have tried to win both fights in a convincing fashion. He should have trained for it is the biggest fight of his life.

That's what separates JMM and Pacquiao.

Pacquaio knew his fight with MAB and Golden Boy was the biggest in his career and he prepared well for it. Convincing win eliminates controversy.
