I have to say that I did not really like. And I think that HBO commentators bad as well... They were all the time saying words like great, tremendous, vicious... althoought it was not THAT good. Or what do you think? The end of the fight was strainge... I expected a hard round 12. Both man needed it, but neither really badly wanted it. I´ll give the fight a grade of 6.
Thats what I give it too. I would have prefered seeing the fight I thought we were going to see. Shane being a slick boxer and counter puncher moving in and out and Cotto closing the distance with his relentless body attack on the inside. However, a bunch of weird **** happened that I still dont understand today. :huh Still, a very good or boderline great fight.
9.5 Cotto did the damage in the first half of the fight, got confident and switched back to defense, counterign and jabbing the other half. Mosley landed hard powerful shots that stunned Cotto, especially to the body; showing he's the most powerful at that aspect. Congrats to Mosley for not getting demolished by Cotto and holding his own like a true HOF.
I'd rate it a 7. It was a good fight much like cal-kess in the fact that it seemed to go by very quick. I was surprised with how well Cotto evaded Mosleys shots and landed his jab, and the action was pretty sustained the entire fight. But there really was no drama in the fight, and I think that is what makes a great fight.
What!? The 11th round was one of the best rounds of the fight, with a great exchange near the end. I think the only two rounds that were kind of slow were the seventh, and the twelth. But, there were a lot of nice exchanges in most of the rounds, the pace was terrific, and the skill level was exceptional. When you factor in the role reversal, and the fact that there were several shifts of momentum, then that makes the fight even better. I'll give it a 9, and say that it's one of the better fights of the year.
