How good has it been for Golovkin to base himself in America?

He hasnt really managed to get top level opposition as of yet and arguably his best opponents have been Macklin, Murray, Geale, Lemieux, Proksa where none of which are American.

There are/were some good match ups that have either passed him by, havent happened, dont seem to be happening or lost a bit of the glamour in Quillin, Jacobs, Cotto, Martinez, Canelo, Njikam and there are big match ups if Golovkin can get them also in Saunders, Eubank Jnr

From what I have read, I dont think alot of this is down to Golovkin

So has it been a good move for Golovkin

I think so. He fought just about everyone in the division except for Saunders who is cowarding away and Jacobs who is signed with Gaymon.

Murray, depending on how you scored Murray/Martinez, was arguably the lineal champion. I think Murray is terrible too, though.

Golovkin also has a shot at the 2nd or 3rd biggest PPV draw in boxing at the moment (Cotto and Pacquiao) in Canelo. If he fights Canelo and KO's him in a classic affair, he's the next big PPV star in boxing.

Doesn't matter that his best fights are against non-American fighters since boxing is a universal sport. He's made leaps and bounds compared to when he fought in Germany compared to America.

Cotto, Alvarez, Martinez, and Chavez jr. fight out of America so getting those fights would be harder anywhere else. Quillin and Jacobs are Americans.

The only thing going against his decision to set base in America is Saunders, Eubank, and Lee. One of which was on a collision course with him until an unfortunate occurrence caused a cancellation. Eubank isn't a champion and setting base in the UK at the time of Golovkins move to the US on the basis that Saunders would be a world champ in 2016 doesn't even make sense. Tom Loeffler has already made clear plans of making a GGG debut in the UK since there are several good money fights to be made in the future so it's not like Golovkin is limited to only fighting in the US.

The only other choice would be to set camp in Germany and become Sven Ottke 2.0 which I don't think anyone wants to see.

It's worked out alright for him because he got HBO exposure. However I do think it would have been better if he had based himself out of the UK like former victim Gregorz Proska did for a while.

UK tickets sell like Hot Cakes and his fight with Murray would have likely sold out the Saint Helens Rugby Ground, his fight with Macklin, could have done a stadium in Ireland. He would've also had the IBF title long ago when Darren Baker was looking for the biggest money showdown he could've got at would have tackled Golovkin instead of Strum had Triple G been an established Sky Sports star.

His PPV drawing power would have been much better too. He allegedly did poor numbers on PPV on HBO, however over here in the UK, fellow KO artist Anthony Joshua did in the region of 400,000 buys for his fight with Whyte, earning Joshua more in one night than WBC world champion Wilder has made in his career. If GGG was doing that kind of numbers on Sky Box Office fights with the likes of Froch, Groves, DeGale, Lee, Saunders and Eubank Jr would make too much money not to happen.

If he'd have beaten any or all of those guys, he would have had the kind of appeal over here in the UK that would encourage people to stop up until 4am and watch him try to conqueror America, like we did the likes of Hatton and Lewis, with the lucrative Sky Box Office platform giving him a huge bargaining chip and the likes of USA PPV stars such as Canelo and Cotto would take those fights no problem with the money on the table

Full of ****. You're the one that defends Selby being a coward. Saunders is a coward too. Your opinion matters little when it comes to real fighters like Golovkin.

Man, am I an universal inspiration, or what?

Even my tiniest thought sparks the imagination of the most dormant mind.

A God? No. Thoth? What I think becomes reality.

I think, little g in Germany, and the next day he is dancing at Oktoberfest eating sausage.

Boxing is a universal sport but often for some being based in America opens opportunities for some fighters who can fight easier fights than they possibly would have in Europe but get higher acclaim due to hype and being recognised.
How come you feel he has come on leaps and bounds, he was earlier in his career so would have had to have stepped up at some point.
Look at former MW champ F Sturm and the big fights he got, I would say he did very well in getting far bigger fights being based in Germany

No offense, but you clearly know very little about boxing as proven by your pathetic v-cash total and the fact we joined on the exact same date and I have 1,335 more profile views than you in that time, so it appers my opinion means more than your opinion to the masses :hi::hi::hi::hi:

Golovkin is much bigger draw in US than ward, kovalev, quillin, jacobs, thurman and wilder

It's £16.95 however for a pub, where the great deal of the PPV trade comes from it's around £175.

Its gone up a bit as I recall since Mayweather/Pacquiao, think it was £20 last time around, which in dollars is around $29
