I've only ever seen him on grainy youtube vids. He's currently ranked by all major organizations and apparently trains with the Klits.

He's got the size and looks as if he moves well. Future world champion here?

Timo Hoffman send him down, and apparently Dimitrenoko didn't impress. I have not seen him fight.

Difficult to say because he does have a good jab but he does not fight well against pressure fighters and does not have enough power to keep Povetkin off him.

He was knocked down by an obese bum. It was like a great white shark landing in the jaws of a fur seal.

Not that good. He is well schooled and obviously has the physical tool, an occasionally decent jab (but nowhere near Klitschko level) is very quick on his feet for someone his size but that's it for the positives. He seriously lacks fighter mentality, is pretty feather-fisted for a guy his size, his chin is very dubious from what I've seen, occasionally he fights dirty.

    Povetkin would Ko him.

Dimitrenko is only 25 he is good but he needs a real test
his promoter won't take risks thats a problem
the only real test was the Vaughn Bean fight in 2005
and Dimitrenko won only a close decision
he needs a test vs a puncher before we can say more
someone like Tua ,Briggs ,Brewster, Golota, Danny Williams or Arreola

In 2005, Chris Koval almost performed the KO of the year when he knock down Dimitrenko with a HUGE shot in the 2nd. I almost started laughing in pain to see a young prospect getting defeated that way when Alex jumped up as it was just a slip. He made my mouth left open for a good minute. :)

So the guy's got heart, a pretty good chin, great stamina, great speed, better then average punching power (but certainly not great), and most of all, he's young and he's a BIG ONE.

Universum made the right choice building up his career slowly as he became more and more confident and has a ton of experience now.

Don't forget that Hoffman was a decent contender in his whole career, and he was the ONLY ONE who made it on his feet against Vitali Klitscko and GOD HE WAS ON STEROIDS AGAINST DIMITRENKO!

Don't tell me you can jump up after every damn knockdown after a long career, fight the 12 rounds without stamina problems, taking brutal punishment and even knocking a young contender down. I KNEW that something was not right on that night and guess what - it turned out that Timo was on steroids like Butterbean on greasy food!

So Dimitrenko, with his style, speed, good punch output, stamina, heart and HUGE size, at the age of 25 is the greatest prospect in HW division (I don’t think that Povekin is a prospect anymore).

This guy has his vulnerabilities for sure, but he is the only guy i can think of who can match Wladimir Klitschko for size AND speed. He does fall short of Wlad in terms of power, but he stopped Hoffmann in his last fight, knocking him down like 3 or 4 times and i don't think that guy had ever been down before. He does have a shaky chin, but so does Klitschko. And besides, whenever i've seen him get knocked down, he got back up and responded like a warrior. Bottom line is i give him a chance against Klitschko for sure.

And regarding Dimitrenko's comptetition: give this guy a break. Of course he's not ready to take the world right now. But he was fighting Koval at the age of 22, then Sidon, Bean, Basile, Batchelder and the really tough European HW Hoffman the last time - that's a pretty good build-up for a really hard 2008 - I see his competition this year as high as Povetkin's last 12 month was.

He was supposed to start this year against former world title contedner Krasniqi (the one who was ahead on the scorecards when Brewster knocked him out) but he (Dimitrenko) turned that fight down for some reason. But he's got time on his side and I think he's gonna get 4 good opponents this year, then the world title opportunity.

I,too, was amazed that he took Koval's murderous shot that well.
I somehow doubt that Dimitrenko is the greatest heavy weight prospect out there though.
Dont get me wrong! He is a good and decent fighter, but I for my part cant really see him win a world title.
By the way I think that Denis Boytsov is a more promising prospect.Unlike Dimitrenko he can bang like a mule.

Did you see any of his fights OTHER THAN THE HOFFMAN fight?

Based on that fight, I can't disagree with you. That's what I saw in that fight too. But based on the other 10 I've seen, his chin (the Koval fight!!!), his jab, his fighting spirit is there. His power is there in one fight, it's missing in another. That's very interesting. But I wouldn't say he lacks fighter mentality...

But certanly needs more fights. He's not a complete fighter yet, but he's the one who has the the tools, the age, the size and the potential to became Wlad's successor. But that's for the future...

i have followed dimiternko`s career from the beginning.

shpion summed up his positive and minus points well .

he needs to be matched right

he would hate povetkin coming at him all night and look flustered and confused.

he really does not like people trying to walk through him.

conversly he would have a easy time with eddie chambers as at 6.7 , with very light feet, a long long jab and constant movement , chambers would never get near him.

    plus points
size 6.7 /solid and in shape 250 approx/jab/feet movement/fast hands/fast feet/comfertable with big men and small men from the outside/actually quite a good accomplished fighter if allowed to keep distance/stamina /workrate

    weakness.
lacks true heavyweight power for his size/vunerable to hooks/cannot fight on the inside/hates constant pressure/possibly chin although recuperation power is instant so far/

opponent to make him look bad -brewster
opponent to make him look good-chambers.

i still hope he improves on many aspects of his game.
he is still a bit of a box by numbers learnt from a textbook type fighter

does little head movements practised in the gym, but when he is out of range and they are unnecasary, and amatuer things like that still.

but if you are not a pressure fighter and stand off him then technically he is sound .

he is sort of a heavyweight version of mario veit at the moment.

whether he can get past that level when he gets his acid tests we will only find out when the test comes.

very much a styles make fight type of fighter not really adaptable.

Well that's another great prospect everyone will talk about in 18 months. You've got a good eye for boxing! :happy

I like Boystov too however at the stage of his carieer, at the age of 21 he looks a little bit slow to me. The other concern is his size. He's more like a CW to me, he started his career at 200, and he's not that tall.

But man he can crack! I wouldn't call him the best prospect yet because he's very early in his pro career but after a few good fighs against decent (of course not top15) opposition he can become the NO1 HW prospect.

    Definitely one to watch!

    boystov is not slow.

when he wants to he can move through the gears in an instant.
