Very quick hands and has plenty of talent however he really needs to start sitting on his punches and planting his feet. It seems to me Khan and his camp dont want to 'stay in the pocket' and thats why he punches like he does. I think he will beat Paulie but thats only because Malinaggi couldnt punch himself out of a wet paper bag.
Yeah It seems like that a lot of times which is a shame and also annoying to try and argue facts when people won't believe you anyway because they think they know best. But ah well, thats what boxing forum is all about I guess, views and opinions.
He's a fairly upright, classical fighter. Good at a distance and middle, but not sure about his close up work, especially his body shots. Excellent speed and footwork make him more dynamic than that sounds and good to watch. He's usually quite aggressive and has a good KO record, but usually this comes from a flood of punches rather than 1 punch KO power, although he did Salita with a 1/2 combo. Early on he fought too many smaller opponents that he could just walk through and then got sparked when he met his first equally sized opponent with an equally good KO ratio. Basically he just tried to run through Prescott like he did to all the smaller guys as he hadn't had to learn anything else up to that point. Recently (since moving to Roach) has become more strategic and much better defensively, especially utilising in and out movement. Questions over his ability to take a punch are because he did get staggered by some of his early opponents and KO'd badly against Prescott, but Prescott did hit him with big punches. The famous jab that staggered Khan was actually a pretty stuff punch and Khan walked onto it. He did take some punches from Kotelnik who might not be a big puncher but did show Khan can at least take some average punches. Definitely worth watching, he's been looking better and better with every fight under Roach and supposedly holds his own against Manny Paquiao in sparring. Malignaggi will be his best opponent yet and as he steps up with some questions still over him Khan will either shine or shatter. Should be a good spectacle either way.:smoke
fast hands, bad chin, some of his wins were highly suspicious, he will make some noise until he meet another good puncher.
Technicaly he,s ok but i,ve seen every fight he,s had and lets face it anybody with genuine pop and a decent chin will beat him. He could have lost 3-4 fights by now but the guys he fought(and no i dont remember their names which in itself speaks volumns about their caliber) could have finished him off but didnt have the puff and wore out and then got ****ed over by him when they were knackered.
Blazingly fast with his hands. Right up there with Pac, Floyd, and Judah level of handspeed. Throws combinations a lot rather than potshotting. Seemingly terrible chin, and a bit of a leaky defence, but it has been slowly improving ever since he began training with Roach. Good in and out footwork when he chooses to use it, which sadly isn't often, and great at closing the distance with sharp punches, as in the Salita KD, where he just jumped in with that lovely left-hand-right-straight (I think it was, can't recall). At least average stamina, not quite sure where he stands there. Sometimes overly aggressive, but again, this is being tamed by Roach, and he's become a bit more of a boxer-puncher now, which suits him far better as he doesn't actually have a lot of power, his best aspect is clearly that crazy speed. A LOT of heart/grit, as evidenced by some domestic level wars. Definitely not a quitter, will get right back up and fire back, unless completely crushed, as with Prescott. A lot of potential, but at the moment not proven enough to be accepted by most boxing fans. Would he beat Floyd? Hell no. Floyd would time him and catch him coming in, and Khan would be lights out. Floyd is just much, much more skilled, experienced, proven and refined, with almost as much speed. I think Khan COULD cause initial trouble maybe, purely due to the handspeed...Floyd would be a bit wary of that, but after a few rounds he would adjust and pick him apart quite easily. Just too much of a gap in skill and intelligence.
Also this is boxing, i hardly expect khan to say 'well if i fight bradley, he will kick my ass'. If some reporter questions him on it, of course he will say he can win, thats just the nature of the beast. In fact i'm surprised that he even admits that hes not ready for fighters like bradley and the divisions elite yet. P.S the hate that khan gets from Brits is ridiculous. The guy is world champ, aged 23, and represents his country on the world stage.
He has improved a lot under Roach and I wondered if he had what it took to win the World title. After reading his biography he came across as a bit of a dick.
