lovely hand speed, in his earlier fights was a really big, strong guy at lightweight. overall pretty darned good but barely/probably not top 20 even by Brit standards, lightyears away from global top 50, a pretty average world champion, if there can ever be such a thing... not a charles martin style paper champion, but not remarkably good either.
Petrified of potentially losing against fellow countryman Brooks. Not a fan of Khan for that sole reason.
Can think of several wreckless speedsters I would rank ahead of him that also have no business in a top 100 discussion so Kahn I would label as a very good contender
140 Khan was legit. Go look at his Boxrec...that was a nice run. Lamont PEDerson screwed him. Awful, awful, awful hometown screwjob on Khan. Then he fraud failed a PED test leading up to the rematch resulting in the Danny Garcia KO. If Khan gets the right decision against PEDerson then we likely would have seen a great and consequential unification at 140 with Tim Bradley. Everything tells me Bradley wins that fight but NEVER discount Khan against a fighter thats much shorter, not nearly as long and is no one punch threat. Kotelnik, Paulie, Maidana, PEDerson and Devon Alexander were all very solid wins. All victories over these guys in their prime.
Say what you want about Khan but the almighty Floyd Mayweather jr. avoided him like the plague. He respected him enough not to take the fight offered & instead took the easy way & fought Andre Berto. Even MVC couldnt believe that cherry pic he swore Floyd was just messing with everyone ROFLMAO
That is something that definitely shouldn’t be over looked. I think we should also pay tribute to his bravery going up in weight to fight Canelo especially considering he was probably outweighed by at least 20 pounds come fight night.
Good fighter but never got the best out of his natural talents as for all that raw ability he didn't have the ring IQ to go with it. He shouldn't be on anyone's ATG list he simply wasn't that calibre of fighter.
Not sure about the other 94 but my top 5 consists of Okocha, Kevin Davies, Ivan Campo, Kevin Nolan & jaaskelainen
Good enough to be ktfo by the best in the sport. But, he has never backed down from a challenge although he has been given far too many opportunites given his ability. I suppose the argument can be made that he has been used by the likes of Clenelo due solely to name recognition.
