**How good is Bradley?

Bradley is a superb fighter. He isn't a knockout puncher, but as we saw last night he can score a knockdown to rack up punches, and he hits hard enough to get the other guy's respect. His defense is tight, his chin is excellent, great hand speed, nice foot speed, smart fighter and he has impressive ring generalship. He does lack experience, but that's the easiest defficiency to correct. I called the Witter upset and I expect he would beat most of the fighters at 140.

 

I like his passion for boxing. He calls himself a Ricky Hatton fan which is pretty cool as they are in the same weight-class!

He said he watches boxing every day, he's a fight freak who learn from other fighters skills and mistakes and at the age of 24, while still learning, he's already a decent fighter. I didn't expect him to survive this fight without getting tagged with those nasty Witter counter shots, but at a young age, his defense looked pretty good as well. It's hard to tell how good is he, but I'd pick Hatton, Malignaggi and Kotelnik to beat him, but these are pretty good fighters and Witter was a HUGE step-up in competition for Bradley - and he's still undefeated.

 

Bradley did absolutely everything right to win the fight, including studying witters style long and hard on tapes (am sure i read a quote saying bradley been watching his tapes for a year) witters main flaw is he fights the same way every time, ingle style i suppose innit, effective against the right opponent but not very adaptable imo. Bradley knew 100% that that overhead right would land eventually just off watching tapes of how witter leaves his chin out in certain scenarios, all bradley had to do was throw it blindly at certain studied points. bingo. How good he is against anyone else ...i dunno 1st time ive seen him, seems a b+ fighter at the mo could easily go on to defend the title.

 

I think his downfall could be his lack of size. Quick and strong yes but someone with a decent jab and tall could give him all sorts of problems.

McGuigan said afterwards to forget about the Welterweights, he should be thinking about Lightweights instead. And I agree.

 

Not that good. Witter is 34 and on the downside. Probably got old overnight.

 

I think he's top 10 but not top 5 at this point. Don't forget that he was pushed to the brink and got somewhat of a gift against a gritty Mexican journeyman whose only asset was a high workrate and a decent chin. I could see him having problems with fighters with a higher workrate, those who put on a lot of pressure, and those who load up. Thus, I think he'd have problems against Hatton, Malignaggi, Lazcano, Ngoudjo, Urango (though I'd still favor him) and Torres, while he'd match up well against Kotelnik, DHop, Forbes, Rees, N'Dou, Bailey and Harris. Holt is probably a pretty straight-up match for him at this point. He still has a lot of potential to improve though, and I could see him beating a bunch of those guys down the line.

 

Bradley is very good, he took away all of Witter's offense. Bradley will be successful because he has determination, trains hard, and has all around very good skills.

he looked good to me, not the slick boxer type, and as he gets older will get worse (much like hatton), as his style is all about the energy he brings to the ring.

personally i think we will get to see some good fights out of him, i hope he does well, loved his attitude after the fight.

 

Witter will not be fighting Bradley again, that I am sure of. Their is more lucrative fights for Witter out there such as D-Hop or the winner of the Holt-Torrest fight.

 

He is pretty good from the way he fought, I would give him a solid B, for now maybe he will grow into an excellent JWW one day, only time will tell

 

I think you are underrating his slickness, is this the only fight you've seen of him. He's got some slickness in his game, if you watch other fight's. The way to beat Witter was to stay busy with hand speed, and he did that, he didn't have to be slick in doing it.

 

This was a MANDATORY defence, therefore there would NOT have been a rematch clause in the contract.

 

I was at this fight and scored it 114-113 Bradley, although it was close enough not to have argued had Witter got the nod. Although I'm a Witter fan, I was still pleased for Bradley;who just about deserved the win, and seems like a nice fella(eg not like Hopkins,Mayweather etc)
