AKA Chagaevs next opponent. Seems like everyone is expecting Chagaev to beat him clearly. But how good is this guy? His record seems good, if anyone actually giving Carl any chance at all? Personally, I think Chagaev will look not as good imo. That layoff is going to hurt him imo.
I actually saw a vid of Drumond and was VERY impressed. This will be Chageav's ugliest fight. This dude is pretty fast. He looks like he has some power. BUT He get's hit alot...and I can't really tell if the guy has a good chin or not because of the VERY limited footage I saw of him. But he looks like a serious test
I haven't seen any of Drummond's fights' but by looking at his record on BoxRec and seeing the names with their records and when and how he beat them I would take a guess that Chagaev will ko him in the later rd's 8th exactly.
He struggled against Kelvin Davis, who was easily beaten his previous two fights by Ding and Terry Smith, and then has subsequently lost his next three fights getting dominated by two prospects and a no-name with a 5-8 record. He also struggled against Pineda, who was dominated by Adamek, Brudov and Palacios. Despite having a good KO%, I think it's safe to say that he has very little power and isn't actually that good.
So lets if it happens, Carl beats Chagaev.... Does that mean hes WBA champ? This is a title fight right?
Drummond lacks the resume to be a title challenger but you never know he could be a diamond in the rough. With that being said Chagev should still easily cruise to a decision probably stopping him in 7.
Yes i belive it is he would then have to fight Valuev to unify the WBA title(how ridiculous does that sound)
Drummond looks like more than your typical South American and/or Carribean HW hypejob, he could be something, Edison Miranda was in the same situation, we'll see, Chagaev should beat him.
