True, I knew Casamayor was going to win though especially when Katsidis started running towards Casamayor in the 10th.
Casa is a nastily smart fighter, one of my favs. He i passed his best though and got some stick over a bad decision. He hasnt got much left.
Lennox Lewis- DAT'S IT! IT'S OVAAAH! The fact that Katsidis GOT UP and tried to keep fighting onwards shows how much of a bad ass he is. While I'm sure Casa stops him inside that round (he wasn't fully recovered), it would've been interesting to see what might've happened had the ref let it go on.
Katsidis was eating up punches in the corner with no response, I'm guessing it would have been more or less the same...
I need to rewatch that fight but I remember SOME response from Kats. Actually that might've been me confusing Kats and Andy Lee who was fighting back after getting hurt. The fights happened like back to back so I might have em confused. Might be my bad on this one. Someone put that fight on YT.
Loved him in his prime, one of my real faves. I'd love to see him against Jorge Barrios after Barrios beats that nicaraguan journeyman.
Once he lost his speed and elusiveness he became a more vulnerable fighter. There was a time he was imposible to corner in the ring and will throw from every angle, almost imposible to beat.Punchers like Corrales(twice),Castillo,Freitas,Campbell coudnt hurt him...very solid, brave, good chin, never ducked anybody...one of the best ever. he still have the old tricks and can expose some overhype rookie but shoudnt be match against the kinds of Pac,JMM,Floyd and company.
Casa is a skilled "hard as stone" fighter in his prime. But recent performances showed great decline . . . so just a good luck wish for him if he still wants to hang around.
And Michael Katsidis is that good? And Jose Armando Santa Cruz is that good? Puhleeeze. Casamayor was great. Now he's a tricky fighter who will make anyone look bad.
