I'm sorry if theres a thread on this already but I'm kinda interested on the Deontay Wilder vs. Artur Szpilka undercard for the IBF title between Charles Martin vs Vyacheslav Glazkov. I've watched his fights on youtube at low quality and an interview of him (sounds like an American Lennox Lewis btw) and I can't really make it out how good he is or why he's getting a title shot? :huh Some dudes on here and on youtube rate him, say he has big power, southpaw and awkward, however he looks clumsy on his feet and seems to have his chin up like an amatuer. It also looks like hes trained by former US Olympic heavyweight Henry Tillman. Is he good enough to beat Glazkov? Or is Haymon throwing him to the wolves to get a pay day and brutally exposed?
I have my own questions that hopefully get answered against Glazkov but we'll see Saturday note. IMO I don't think he's that good.
I think he's the most solid of the American Heavyweight prospects, far better on every level than Breazeale, Washington, Ruiz Jr., Miller, Nofire, Bryan and especially Kownacki. For whatever that's worth.
We've only seen a bit of him here in the UK. Think this is a good match up. Personally, think Martin will take it
Lets see. Martin has... - The Power of Foreman - The Footwork from Angus Young - A higher chin than Godzilla Cant see him beeing world class. But it could be enough for Glazkhov, because Glazkhov is nothing special.
The man with the deepest pockets in boxing, Povetkins promoter Rabyinsky said the other day that Glazkov was the likely winner. Guessing he knows something? Martin's last 5 fights are boxrec ranked 190, 249, 93, 498, and 333 Way to get a title shot. He looks very stiff and disorganized to me
This. He has good size and power, but is very crude. At this time Wilder, Ortiz, Fury, and Joshua all beat him.
His resume is absolutely shocking, I haven't seen him fight before so I had a look at boxrec to see who he's beat and his record shows bum after bum after bum, yet somehow he has been given a title shot??? WTF! I'm not a fan of Glazkov but at least he has fought some guys in the top 50 and for that reason I will be rooting for him on saturday.
I know you may laugh, but he beat joey dawejko a lot easier than amir Mansour. Hes a southpaw whose big and can crack. Ive seen a few fights, looks okay. Feel this one is going the distance.
I haven't seen a lot of Martin, but from what I saw, I can't see how he can get past Glazkov. He never fought anyone whose level is at least a million mile close to Glazkov's, and only relied to his punching power when fighting bums, when he was noticeably slow, awkward and boring. I'm not Glazkov's fan and don't want him to be a champion (he has zero charisma, both in the ring and outside of the ring). Yet, he has enough defense skills to avoid Martin's punches, he went distance with Adamek, Cunningham and Malik Scott (defeating the first two of them), he fought some of the experienced journeymen. After all, he is an Olympic bronze champion.
