with all the talk this week about Derry v rees, how good is Crolla who was found out against Derry, do people still expect big things from him, he seems a nice guy (even more so now he has been humbled) and I hope he does well
He is a lovely kid, one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet.. He is very skilfull when given time and distance.. Amazingly fit! Just needs more experience for me..
think he just needs to tighten his defence move his head more and he could be a cracking fighter i was one who thought he was nailed on to beat derry hope he comes back stronger and better
Needs to start moving his head. That Gallagher style (ie walking forward in straight lines with your hands up) doesnt suit him. He seems like a good dude and has a nice style so I hope he doesnt turn into John Murray mark 2 as he looked against Mathews.
Im not sure he was found out, I think his tactics were wrong, if he had carried on boxing on the outside, used his skills more I think he would have probably gone on to a reasonably comfortable points decision. He'll win British title again and hopefully go on to Euro.
Looked a tad too easy to hit against Mathews which was a worrying sign but is young enough to learn his trade a bit more before pushing on again in my opinion.
seems like a nice lad in interviews , never slags people off, but needs to learn more boxing skill moving better, going down the John Murray route, possible needs trainer change
Quite a few good attributes, very fit and seems to throw stinging, if not devastating, straight punches; like Gallagher fighters can. Conversely, has also been demonstrating the typical Joe Gallagher defence. Hopefully the whole stable have been working on this!
I've sparred with him, terrific variety. Back in the day he could move and box very tidily but does seem to have fallen into the pressure game too readily.
I think in the fight against Derry,Crolla was more a victim of his own ego. Hes a good domestic prospect who i do believe will achieve more than he already has.
I don't see him winning a world title, probably Euro strap and intl / intercontinental baubles will be his level but he's still young enough to change and prove that wrong.
He's wasting his potential at Gallaghers. I'd love to know how many KO losses the gym needs before there's a change of tack. Murray x2 Smith x2 Crolla Not only that, but fights that could be won relatively easily or at least in ''workmanlike'' performances are turning into brutal battles. Following the opponent with the earmuffs on getting hit all night isn't a good style.
