What are your thoughts on David Diaz?

    Record: 33-1-1, 17 KOs

As an amateur, he defeated Zab Judah twice and became a member of the 1996 US Olympic Team as a Light Welterweight, but lost to Oktay Urkal.

1 loss - Kendall Holt by 8th round TKO in Feb '05

Behind on the scorecards, Diaz scored a TKO over [url]

Diaz was awarded the title after the WBC stripped [url]

For his first defense, he defeated [url]

Next up, faces Ramon Montano (14-3-2, 0 KOs) on the Pacquiao/Marquez II undercard March 15th in a non-title 10 rounder.

So is David Diaz for real? Just lucky to be a champ? Lucky to have gotten the decision over Morales? Will defeat the top lightweights including Juan Diaz?

Lucky. He beat a well past it Morales in a fight many considered Morales the winner. He is an average brawler trying to smother his opponents with constant pressure and physical strength.

Morales was able to hit him clean when he had the room to box, which was a lot. I don't see him lasting with any of the top fighters around him.

He's a decent tough fighter who has really over-achieved so far.He deserves credit for what he has done but i doubt he could trouble the big guns in the division

I'm not too impressed with David's fighting skills and abilities. His only notable win up to this point was against the aging Morales.

If Pacquiao gets past JMM, I want to see him moving up to 135lbs and take on D.Diaz.

He is true overachiever. He's durable and tough but limited. That he struggled with and possilby lost to a very past it Morales shows that he is very beatable. He's basically keeping the title warm until Pacquaio takes it from him this summer.
