Lebedev knocked Alekseev out in two. Before you ask me "who's Alekseev" ? Apart from not fighting in the US, he's as good a boxer and a former amateur champ as Jirov was.

He's trying to get guillermo jones to fight him, because he's the mandatory. . but jones is trying everything in his power to not have the fight. . LOL he even filed a special request saying he'd fight if it could be a ten rounder. . DENIED!

He'll be stripped if he doesn't face him in october :)

Then after that, bring on Hernandez. . . Forget Huck, he already beat him. . We going for the number one in the division.

Years ago when Alekseev first started fighting professionally I believed he was the cruiserweight with the most potential. I don't think his KO loss to Lebedev ended his career because Alekseev did fight Huck to a draw, I believe, so he's not too far away.

About Lebedev, I think those who claim that Jones or Toney would have beaten him easily in their primes are wrong. Why? Because Lebedev can punch very effectively and he has an ability to hit opponents with punches they don't see coming. I think Lebedev has an awkward style that those without hands-on knowledge of boxing do not fully understand. I believe Lebedev may proof to be the best in the cruiserweight division.

He's a good puncher who is difficult to hit squarely and to me he seems like a fighter who puts a lot of effort into his preparation.

Thank God for ESB. Here I though Lebedev was a strong, technical fighter at the top of the division. Come to find out he is a bigger version of Andy Lee, without an ounce of God given ability and no credible wins. :patsch

He's white and from Eastern Europe he must suck. He has beaten Black Americans but that does not count because they were past prime and would have won every round against him in their primes.

Being White and from EE also means he has no athletic ability and takes PED's to compensate. Something Americans would NEVER resort to. Especially the Americans Lebedev has beaten...

I think it was a defense of his european title against Firat Aslan which he fought to a draw. I haven't seen the fight but Alekseev might end up like Valery Brudov, being a worthy contender and losing at world level.

Lebedev is better than given credit for.

He's always hit hard, and been very physically strong. What Kostya has done is introduce an element of craft to his game. He opens up his own oppertunities for punches now, rather than clubbing his way through with sheer force. He's vastly improved, and not deserving of any 'caveman' tags.

He'll never be a Jones or a Toney when it comes to this art, but as far as making the best out of what you've got, and improving all the time; he's doing a damn good job.

No one is saying Lebedev is bad. He's a very good fighter, but just like Andy Lee he doesn't quite seem destined for greatness. - And for much the same reasons, as already discuassed.

Some of you guys get your panties in a bunch far too easily.

Elite at the weightclass but its a poor weightclass. Besides Cunningham and Hernandez there isn't much going on there. Anyone with decent footwork would outbox Ledebev to me.

Nobody said he's destined for greatness but if you have to criticize him, at least try to point out the right reasons, like he's too stationary or lack foot movement. You might appear like you actually saw his fights.

I just think the analogy to Lee is fail; Lebedev seems a lot more natural than Lee. . . And he has great killer/finishing instincts. .

I simply don't see any parallels to be drawn there at all. . .

I'd have to disagree. I think CW is a great weight class, with a lot of solid fights to be made. You got Cunningham (although he said he might be moving to HW), Hernandez, Huck, Afolabi, Lebedev, Chakhiev, Masterneuk (think i spelled that wrong), Wlodarzyk (spelled wrong). . . Tarver (think he's still got 2-3 left in him when he comes back from likely suspension in 6-8 months). .

Guillermo Jones is one of the most underrated boxers around. . .

Lateef Kayode is even better than credited for. . .
