    Maybe.

There are some great prospects besides him out there that may over shadow him. What if Wlad reigns another 4 or 5 years.

Wilder is fighting total bums. I think he is being moved too slowly. I'll reserve my opinion on his future when he atleast fights journeymen not total cans

Yeah I've long been saying he needs to step up his level of competition 14-0 with 14 knockouts and only 20 rounds completed tells you all you need to know about his level of competiton. Sconiers was actually a step in the right direction, took him 4 rounds, put him down and Wilder had to dig deep. He needs fight like that. Obviously not getting put down, but in around journeyman level for a while as opposed to absolute tomato-can level. Even for a guy with not many amateur fights he's not learning anything from these fights.

I agree totally I made a thread about this a while back and got blasted

I honestly think fighting guys 4-5 and 2-10 and 1-6 in your 10th fight as an Olympian is bad.

He needs to fight guys like 25-25 or like 30-20. guys who are bums but are seasoned bums. Can block can take a punch and can throw.

No monsters that will KO him but will return fire and test his D

and stay standing til the 5th or 6th to test the lungs

He fights crap he developes bad habits and steps up his stuff dont work and he loses

    He needs adversity

Being in the "College" of the amatuers then the "Kindegarten" of the pros is a bad move

He probably needs a better trainer than Breland, who, possibly like Wilder unless he's careful, was a very good amateur who didn't make it as a pro. I think a big part of Breland's failure was down to poor conditioning and that's something which appears to be the case with Wilder. Not in the sense he's fat, because he obviously isn't, but a fighter can be ripped and in poor condition. I don't think Wilder is sturdy enough at the moment but that's easy enough to change.

I'd like to see him get a better trainer. It possibly sounds a bit harsh considering Breland isn't a bad trainer, but I can't see him taking WIlder to the top. With Roach and Ariza, I think he'd be a world champion.

I think he's good but he needs to take a step up.
I think he has the tools to be heavyweight champion but as far as being the next African American heavyweight champion. I think Seth Metchill is going to beat him to that.

    Bingo.

Deontay iwll improve a lot, and beside all of that, there will be some creative Floyd Patterson- Peter Rademacher, David Haye- Audley Harrison Bruce Seldon-Joe Hipp, Oleg Maskaev- Peter Okhello type matchmaking to get him/keep him in the title picture.

America doesn't have so many up and coming heavyweights, is it really necessary to divide it up further by bringing race into it? Isn't nationality sufficient for you? :huh

    Cosign.

It won't matter what color he is to me; the man just does not hold a shot too well.

He's still a work in progress without the "progress" at this point. Some good ideas are in here about how to develop him, but what will they do about that chin? :-(

He neds to develop a defense or he's getting iced. Packing on a few pounds might not be a bad idea, trading speed for durability.

Not if he keeps fighting the pathetic tomato cans he's been facing.
