Well, he always has been a journeyman. And don´t go calling for his retirement. Many have made this mistake before. I sweat I have been hearing that since Haye starched him.
I'm not some big Derek fan but some of his losses also have an asterisk. He's the kind of fighter that separates the top and the pretenders/ also rans of a weight division. Responding to others, if Chisora is "C" level then most everybody here is D to F level in whatever you do besides post on sports forums At his peak he was a bottom top 10 in the world HW. Few people will ever reach that level of "C".
If he has always been a journeyman how do you explain his win against Whyte? Who according to the governing bodies before the Pov loss was top 4. Only ever having lost to a green AJ as a green fighter himself. Also his performance against Vitali was outstanding.
Whyte definitely wasn't a world contender when Chisora "beat" him. Chisora's best claim to being a contender was when he was robbed against a "prime Helenius" back in 2011.
He was the WBC number 1 challenger back then. But yep. As you say Claude, he wasnt a world contender.
i didnt check my dates of when the first Chisora fight was, sorry about that. I recall him becoming number 1 with the WBC back in early 2018. So actually he wasnt a number 1 contender at the time of the first Chisora fight.
Excellent gatekeeper, as others have pointed out, with better luck in terms of matches and marketability could no doubt have briefly sneaked a world belt at some point.
He's nearing the end of his career. He wasn't when Haye beat him. We aren't in 2012 anymore. But i was just looking at it this way, if he can't beat Usyk, there's no hopes of ever getting a title shot. I suppose if he can still make some money in the UK, who am I to say when to stop.
Genuinely had no idea that Pulev had fart sauce dipped before, theres every chance we could see Joshua's Grade A china chin get shattered again.
Blows Hot and cold… He's sort of B level.. A good durable fighter that is able to test people but falls short at the very top level… I think he deserved a win over Whyte & Helenius but was screwed a bit.. very solid career. Entertaining fighter. Looks to be in the shape of his life right now though whereas in the past he has come in quite fleshy at times.
