How good is Derry Matthews??

Alex Arthur is better than Derry but Derry may go onto very good things. He needs to make the step up in class to get more experience before fighter the dangerous guys of the division but I would be amazed if he ever became a genuine title holder. I would love it to happen but as of yet he is still a work in progress.

 

He's a dirty overrated fighter.

 

horrible style. he presents himself as a diego corrales archtype in that he has the high slight peek a boo stance very tall and chases you around the ring relentlessly.

but in practice he is a dirty dirty fighter and not the gritty "i want to fight" (zab judah, bernard hopkins) dirtyness but the "damn im in trouble, i need leverage" dirtyness.

not a bad fighter. i just feel he will fall apart at euro or world level. wbu is good but not a proving point.

we had a full discription of his fighting style when real pro boxer steve chinook who is a poster on esb said that anyhing he did he was countered by a right hand to the balls. headbutts were a major factor as well as steve commented that he was trying to go for his eyebrows (which cut easily) but after a tough fight with nither man getting the best of each other a headbutt came in to play then an elbow. the ref also not saying anything about it no warnings at all so steve just chose to retire.

i usually dont hate fighters but this guy deserves to not be unbeaten.

Derry Mathews is a good fighter, but he has a horrible, dirty style of fight! He is undefeated, and I think he will probably fight for a major belt in the near future, maybe agianst a good opponent. Hopefully he will get a bit of recognition in America. If he is good enough to be a good contender, I do not know, nut it is definately a possibility.

i mean in sparring ,in the gym,or when i fought him hed do anything to win.

I saw him talking on a Farm Aid concert the other day. Seems cool. Sort of a stoner type.
