Poor man's Mayorga = tomato can.

I wouldn't rate him that, I would rate him right next to Mayorga based on their limited abilities. That's a step above tomato can, more like journeyman to be exact. Hope to see him prove otherwise against top opposition, talking trash is cheap and easy.

pac already beat barrera when he was 23. how old is valero, 28? i mean pacquiao at 28 is already levels above valero in terms of achievement and even skills.

lets see how he fares against demarco. it might change our minds. or not.

Southpaw. Good power. No skills. Rough style.
    That's it.

Hmmm. . .well, I analyzed it in terms of number of professional bouts, you analyzed it in terms of age. Fair enough.

I don't see DeMarco lasting beyong the 6th. But he'll give it a very gutsy, ballsy shot like Mexicans usually do. Also, being a southpaw himself, DeMarco may make it interesting.

Would love to see Valero beat someone of the quality of Vernon Forrest's ass.

  11. He's got power, but that's about it. He is untested to say the least. If he beats someone like Soto, I'll start paying attention.

I tried finding out who the fighter was that I saw years ago and I only now realized that it was Valero. Sure I don't watch as much boxing as I used to, but asking people's opinions of a fighter makes this thread dopey? Quit being a jerk.

We'll find out how good he is pretty soon.

He definitely has the skills to be great, he just needs to tighten up his defense.

He needs a new coach. The guy he used in the Velazquez fight really sucked big time. He was swinging away like a caveman with little technique. Against Pitalua he looked very controlled(most of the time) and showed better movement and utilized the jab with Alcazar in his corner. Shy of Roach I think Alcazar was his best option.

Valero is incredibly stubborn and the fear is that he'll be surrounded by too many yes men that won't teach him anything. He really needs a new trainer if he wants to improve otherwise it could be a case of wasted talent. I mean why suffer a loss before changing your style and minimizing your flaws when you can remain undefeated by doing so?

Beating DeMarco who is a solid B fighter is a start but he is on the same level as Pitalua and Mosquera. Defeating B+ fighters like Soto, Katsidis and Juan Diaz should get him noticed quickly. Beating an A level fighter like JMM is his best route to fortune and fame.
