Can't really tell at the moment. It's frustrating because he's not exactly a young bloke but he's not proved himself at world level yet and his inactivity is a bit worrying.
In all fairness Dunky, the term "noob" suggests a certain derogatory manner to it, as though the poster is new to boxing in general rather than just to posting on here. I got some idiot who had been a member for less time than I have patsch atsch atsch ) calling me one the other week!!! A person's boxing knowledge is not directly allied to their post count here (look at some of the general forumers and Betty for evidence of that). Anyway back to the point at hand, I voted 7, he's obviously contender/ top ten level and will probably beat Pascal and pick up a paper belt, however, I think he has flaws that will hold him back at the very top level. He seems to be rather ponderous in a manner almost reminiscent of howard Eastman and that low left hand is a recipe for disaster.
To be fair, the guy has been pulled out on more times than a two dollar *****. The opponent for his last fight, for example, was a fourth choice substitute after Inkin (unbeaten top 10 contender), Berrio (former belt holder, still a contender, maybe just about top ten), and Williams (fringe contender, top 15-25) all pulled out in sequence. Generally speaking, the closer you get to the fight, the deeper into the barrel you have to scrape for an opponent.
Its nice to see a British SMW who can actually punch instead of slap. Hope he gets some big fights next year - then we'll see how good he is.
I would say 7 if 10 is p4p #1. 9 would probably be top 10, and 8 other elites. Froch is a top fighter in his division and has world class potential. Deserves a 7, even if his resume doesn't.
A fighter with some borderline elite abilities, and some borderline bum defects. He could beat Pascal, i'm not sure. One thing is fior certian, he is not elite.
I give him a 7. He's mashed all that's been put in front of him even if they haven't been the best. I think if they had been a level up he'd have still mashed them. That's why the 7. I think were all as good as saying he's pretty good but he has to prove it against the big boys in the division. I don't really worry about his low left as that's his style and his chin is solid. It's his work rate that does my head, as in more often than not he does just enough, when if he'd open up the combinations more often than twice a fight things would be more clear cut. He hasn't been very busy recently so I hope he's getting quality sparring and I don't mean McCracken squeezing into a pair of shorts either. The guy is highly skilled and hits like a truck, he should have been at this stage a few years ago. I just hope he makes the most of it now it has arrived. So 7, potentially a low 9.
Pretty looking forward to Frochs upcoming fights because as I said no-one really knows. I do hope his career doesn't stall though - but having a belt will help against that.
I like his attitude, he seems very hungry and dedicated and I think he's a good fighter. Just hasn't had chance to prove it yet. I think TFFP got it right with a 7. He's well worthy of carrying a strap. He's not an ATG in the making but he's world class. And he should be pretty much peaking now.
