i only saw one of his fights. It was his last fight, only lasted a round but he got knocked down, though not badly hurt and finished the guy the same round so i didn't get to see much of him.

can anyone give me any details about this guy? thanx :good

Allen Conyers is the man he beat. Kirkland is pretty decent. I have him on my one to watch list-age 23 I believe
    18 KO's in 21 fights!

Kirkland is an excellent prospect who could dominate the weak 154-pound division, provided he continues to improve his defense. His workrate and overall aggressiveness are exceptional, and his power is solid as well. Where he struggle is in a move up to 160, because he's a full-grown fighter at 154.

At the very least, he's a legit contender and should get a title shot within the next 18 months.

He's a shaky chinned brawler with what looks to be good power, but he doesn't have much skill or exceptional talent. He showed heart in his last fight and could produce some exciting fights, but there's no real reason to get very excited about him becoming anything close to elite.

I think it's unfair to tag him as having a shaky chin. He got caught, but he also recovered very quickly. He dominated the guy shortly thereafter.

He fights aggressively and is very strong for 154. His prospects at 160 probably aren't very good, but against Forrest/Baldomir/Spinks and the like, he'd be fine. He's similar in mentality to Andre Berto, but less skilled.

Exciting guy. Someone I look forward to watching. Maybe a lucky belt holder at some point, but not a championship level fighter.

Forrest would destroy him and stop him early. Spinks would outbox him without any trouble. Maybe he could handle Baldomir, but Baldomir is shot and was never anything more than a B- level extremely durable Mexican fighter anyways.

Similar in mentality to Berto, but less skilled doesn't sound to good. Even I didn't put him down that badly. :D

    Baldomir's from Argentina.
I agree with your picks BTW, but let's give this Kirkland guy some time to develop. He hasn't even fought so much as a fringe contender yet.
I notice that just as much as some guys get overhyped too soon because they look spectacular in 6-rounders (Gamboa comes to mind),
on the other hand guys sometimes get written off too soon when they haven't even had time to develop yet.

Ha. Funny. I'm high on Kirkland also because of his tenacity and heart, and at this stage he's a much hungrier fighter than either Forrest or Spinks. I'm not saying he's a future PfP guy, but in a weak division, I think he can grab a belt or two down the road.

I've seen a decent amount of Kirkland, Shobox loves him. He's a fast starter, aggresive, powerful, and is a true fighter. I don't think his chin is shaky, I actually think its fine. I think Kirkland ends up being a top 5 type of guy at 154, and similar at 160. Neither divison is deep, so I'd expect him to grab a belt in the next year or two. What will stop Kirkland from being a true force is his overall skill set. He isn't the most polished guy in the ring, though that should change some as he is still young. Most importantly though, he is very fan friendly. Fun guy to watch.
