He is the last man to have challenged PAc and arguably beat him most recently. So far he has also taken the most impressive route after fighting Pac also by having fought legitimate contenders in Diaz, Casamayor and now PBF. People say Pac has improved alot but really all i see is the same thing I have seen all along just against limited opposition. Yes i know they were bigger guys but they were either overrated or shot. Hatton was younger but i have always said Hatton is the most overrated fighter of recent times. Not to mention his chin was dodgy. I know i probably sound like im hating but i think Pac has just picked some great opponents which work to his advantage. I must admit i picked DLH to knock him out but that DLH didnt show up. Anyways back to my point. JMM is a naturally smaller man and he is the one that has given Pac hell most recently. He is slower weaker and older than Pac yet he always stays on Pacs level. IS JMM just that great that he is the smallest fighter Pac has faced recently yet he is the one that always gives him hell?? Or is it just the level of opposition Pac has faced lately was doomed to lose(DLH not included)??? Who would win a fight at 140???
hmm says... I think he's great... 140+ I don't know. His chin is iffy as well. He'll put up a tough fight. Both Pac and JMM are great rivals and both are improving. The difficulty in paths in which they took is up in the air, but the way they are winning is the difference and what separates them.
JMm is one of those fighter who just have Pacs number. This has happened a few times in history. Lets not overanalyze it. Pac is the greater fighter but JMM is right up there as well.
JMM is one of the boxing genius in history and soon he will beat the fastest runner and most trash talker in boxing history.... pac vs marquez 3..bring it on
You dont think JMM would have beat those 3 guys?? Obviously not as violently as Pac since that is not JMM's style but i think he would have beat them all pretty handily. How is JMM chin iffy?? The man has never been stopped. He has been down but always gets up quickly and fights back as if nothing happened. JMM obviously has a great chin if he can take Pacs punches and not get Kod.
Im not so sure he will beat PBF. That will by far be his toughest test to date. PBF is not Hatton. I hate the guy but he has very good skillset along with a size advantage.
it's both. jmm has always been a cerebral type of fighter so he'll figure a fighter out like manny did to hatton. jmm's punching power has also been carried very well and has not been affected with his moving up in weight. i think 140 is still a reasonable weight for guys like manny, jmm, hatton, or cotto who are in the 5'6''5'7" range, which is really the height of most featherweights, but manny and jmm are a special exception. sure, oscar didn't seem like the oscar of yesterday, but there really is no excuse for hatton. they matched up evenly physically in every way, but pacman is that good as is jmm
hahahaha!! PBF must prepare well. JMM is just 2nd to pacs talent speed and power. if PBF KOs JMM then ill hold my balls while watching PBF pac:yep
JMM is just that great. Even back in the featherweight heyday with JMM, MAB, Naz and EM running around I always had a suspicion that he might be the best one of them all. He's naturally bigger than MAB and EM and smaller than Pac imho. He's just that good and was always a huge threat to even the best of the elites.
JMM is a slow starter, but you know, if anyone can upset PBF before he can schedule a beating at the hands of Pacman, it's JMM. JMM is a master technician who can think and fight. He will drive PBF crazy after the 3rd round.
As of right now Pac took the lead as the greater fighter but that could easily change should JMM take a victory over PBF. The book is not close on these two current greats:deal
JMM is awesome. Only thing I have to add to that is that I think he isn't as good at the higher weights as he was IMHO. In a fight 140+ I think Pac would destroy JMM, he just doesn't seem to go up in weight as well as Pac does, he's too small for 140, let alone 143.
hmm says... I was reverting to his greatness in general. I didn't say he was glassed jawed even though he didn't get knocked cold. True, the last times he went down were all via chin but he got up..one of them he almost went to the wrong corner hehe. It's just his legs gave away pretty quickly that's why I said "iffy". That Diaz fight, he got hit in the face quite a bit... whether he got rocked in the chin is hard to tell because he was using the ropes/leaning on the ropes to stay up. In a way I'm convinced but not yet at fully at 140+. We shall see.
