How good is Lucian Bute, really? What expectations do you have of his career?

    ...A respected ESB poster's view.

So...will Bute fold against Andrade and end up just one of those B level fighters that cannot accommodate a difficult style to prove they are B+?

Will he then lose to someone like Froch to prove he was just an ordinary B level fighter who got lucky?

Will he beat Andrade to prove he is B+ but lose to B+ or better figthers like Pavlik, Kessler or Dawson?

Will he end up surprising quite a few people by developing into an A- level fighter who will beat Pavlik or Kessler and Dawson?

Will he get better and better and have some great wins in some memorable fights against future HOFers like e.g.Pavlik, Kessler and Dawson?

    What do you think?

    Please vote in the poll.:good

Cant agree that Dawson will be a future HOF, yet. Havent seen enough from him to warrant praise that high!

Might not be, but let's assume he beats Diaconu, Tarver and Erdei...etc.

Not to early to guess. The guy's won a belt already.

People are predicting how great Gamboa is going to be, and he's never fought a B level fighter yet...

with Gamboa's amateur accomplishments there's alot more info on him than on Bute.

Bute can become a dominant champ imo. His big stepping stone will be Kessler. Right now he still needs to improve to beat Kessler imo

A B+ level fighter who will beat all B level fighters - he will make a good couple of defences is what I voted
    This content is protected
and A B level fighter who won a belt - a contender who will beat some B level fighters but not others

I think he will end up in between

    and

...but I voted for the former. I think he might end up unifying two or three of the belts but I don't think he will become the undisputed Champion because of Kessler. So...as Pharaoh said: a dominant champion, but not The Champion - just like Kessler was, when Calzaghe was around.

I will bump this thread before and after Bute's fights, to see how he does compared to our predictions, at this stage.:D

Bute's future depends on his management. I hope he's not gonna end up being a protected fighter who only faces serious threats when he has to (mandatory like Andrade). The reason is simple: Bute is very good, so bring him the big names.

Fortunately for him he's a powerful puncher with decent skills getting more and more polished and his mandatory is a Golden Boy fighter, so hopefully we can expect that Showtime and HBO will have interest showing his fight. A great breakthrough performance on US TV needed here and he'll be in the great pack of SMW fighters fighting each other - Taylor, Kessler, Andrade, Calzaghe, Miranda now Jones, later Pavlik, Abraham, Froch and so on.

So his future depends not on his skill level (which is B+ and getting better and better in every fight) but on his management.

I'm not sold on Bute yet. Let's see us how he does against Andrade.
