How good is Lucian Bute, really? What expectations do you have of his career?

If he beats Andrade, he should fight Kessler. I figure that's the real test.

 

A B level fighter who won a belt - a contender who will beat some B level fighters but not others

 

I just don't see him becoming elite A class boxer. Bute IMO is a solid B that could rise to B+ nothing wrong with that a B+ fighter is actually quite good. Right now I think Andrade could pose problems Taylor when he moves up will be atleast a B could as well. I'm not sure about Pascal who is B-. I think he would beat Miranda, Froch and Inkin.

I'm not a hater, just dont think Bute has done enough yet to prove he's more than B level. For the record, I think Andrade is B level too and I DO see Bute beating him.

Would he beat Kessler? Not at the moment. Maybe in a year or two, but having said that Kessler will improve in that time too.

If Bute does a better job on Andrade than Kessler did then maybe I'll consider him as B+.

At the moment he is prospect and nothing more. And I havent seen enough from him to rank him more than a B.

 

Dawson is an C+ fighter right he might be a dud or an ATG but he has not looked good in an old division in his only two quality wins.

 

I think he'll be a solid B+ level fighter, along the lines of Kessler. He's too conventional, and doesn't have any really outstanding trait that would allow him to become a P4P fighter, but I could see him unifying a couple belts under the current jumble that is the SMW title mix. I'd favor him against Froch, etc. If Calzaghe has moved up permanently, then I'd place him around 4th right now, behind Kessler, Taylor and Mundine, although he'd have a decent chance at beating the latter two.

 

B+. I think he beats B guys like Andrade, and will make some defences, possibly even unify. I doubt he'll ever be undisputed though, because that will probably mean he has to beat Kessler
